The Social House - Canal Reviews
This is truly a hidden gem. Found it through a google search, as it was near a shop we were visiting in Hermantown. Unsuspecting on the outside, cozy warm and friendly on the inside. The food was great and the staff were too. Highly recommend.
food and service is always amazing ! when we get back to Duluth again this will be our first stop to dine

The Social House - Canal is a restaurant with a lively atmosphere and friendly staff, known for their excellent breakfast and brunch service. It provides a cozy environment decorated with art decor and a TV at the bar displaying Bible scriptures. The staff are attentive, often checking if customers need refills and even offering free refills of orange juice. The inside has a busy, noisy vibe, reminiscent of a garage-style setting, but outside patio seating is also available for a more relaxed experience.
The menu features various vegetarian options, such as the Garden omelet, Garden salad, Avocado toast, Avocado sliders, and Greek salad. A popular dish is the Classic #2 combo, which includes pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and bacon. The pancakes are homemade, fluffy, and delicious, with one reviewer describing them as piled high and outstanding, featuring toasted pecans, Nutella, and fresh whip. Portions are large, and leftovers can be taken home.
Customers have highlighted the crispy, light, and non-oily hash browns and appreciated the friendly and efficient servers. The Western Omelette and meat lovers omelette have also received praise, alongside the chicken wild rice soup, which is light and loaded with ingredients. The restaurant offers good Bloody Marys, and a Coors Light for $9. Despite some minor issues with parking being a tad misleading, the overall experience is highly positive, with seamless service and clean, spacious surroundings.
Overall, The Social House - Canal is considered a hidden gem, praised for its great food, inviting atmosphere, and attentive service. Many customers have had excellent experiences, finding the staff friendly and the environment cozy and welcoming.
