This is our go-to place for Italian food in Duluth! We always do take-out here when staying on the North Shore. Their curb drive up service is efficient and well done. It’s a small place so reservations for inside dining are a must, but it’s nice and quaint inside with views of the lake. It has the look and feel of an authentic small niche Italian restaurant, because it is. Five stars!

This was such a great spot. We didn't have a reservation, but they got us right in at the bar. Definitely felt like we got lucky though so make a reservation if you can. Amazing views of Lake Superior from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant. The food was top notch. It was on par with all of the best Italian places I've had in Minneapolis. Service was also tremendous with Andrew and Nathan being the standouts. Everything was so well run and it was fun to see the food being made so efficiently in the open kitchen. Will definitely be back and I hope to remember to reserve a spot along the windows overlooking the lake!

This place was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered pasta and my husband had a pizza, mixed drink, and we split dessert. My pasta was probably the best pasta I've ever had. It was super fresh and layered with sundried tomatoes, fresh basil, chicken, and pine nuts. The chicken was perfectly juicy, too. The staff was also very kind and welcoming. All around, I'd say it's a must go if you're in the area.

My husband and I were visiting Duluth for some downtime together after me having multiple surgeries over the course of 5 weeks.
We did not make reservations but they were more than willing to accommodate us for lunch.
We got to sit out on their little closed in patio and look out over the lake.
The food was freshly made, hot and delicious.
Our waiter was top notch and was very attentive while we were there.
It's in a good location and we will definitely visit again when we come back.

Have been several times. Last couple of times have been a bit underwhelmed with quality of the food. Got the pasta primavera with tenderloin tips this time. In the past, the mix and balance of veggies to protein is spot-on. This time, not so much. Skimpy veggies and for $10 extra for the steak, I expected better, if not a tad more. I understand restaurants have higher costs these days, but I expect either same quality or higher quality and glad to pay a bit of a premium. The pasta also not done well, just this side of undercooked. I felt like the marinara was average at best, maybe even a tad sweet. The one constant is the sausage soup--pretty much very good every time. Very busy for an early Wed evening, and we had to wait for about 20 minutes for our reserved table. Server was very good in the Solarium which is a popular seating area. Not crazy about the fact that they mention an hour and half limit from time of reservation.

They made our experience at Va Bene something to remember. The food was incredible! This is by far the BEST restaurant in Duluth! Bon appetite!!!🤩
