We have been to the Southdale Lakeshore Grill for more years than I can remember. It was always a comfortable and reliable restaurant. The service, with few exceptions was always great, with friendly servers who cared about giving great service. But it seems there have been a lot of changes in recent months. Tonight the service was the worst we've ever experienced at this restaurant. The hostess appeared to be so young and inexperienced she could have been in 8th grade. She did not smile, either when we were coming or going. She did not appear to be able to handle any of the somewhat busy activity. The young waiter seemed to be brand new. The service was terrible and quite slow. We asked for sauce for the Asiago Chicken, which was served with almost no sauce. We were almost finished with the meal when he finally remembered to bring the sauce. Usually, if not always, when we finish with the delicious popovers, the server soon appears and removes the bread and butter dishes. This server did not do so. Neither did he refill water glasses, the only beverage at our table. And by the time we finished the meal, the very small table was cluttered end to end with dirty dishes.

Not a bad spot in the basement of Macy's. Atmosphere was a little bland , but enjoyed the food and there were plenty of good options.

I love this place. It's where I go to chill out. I don't mind sitting by myself and no one else seems to mind either!

I have had lunch here every week for three years and today that told me that there was a wait even though there were 10 plus tables empty. So I waited, they said there was a table and I’m being seated when the manager comes over and says they aren’t going to seat anymore people. And told me I would have to wait more time. Will not be coming back food and service has gone downhill.

I have been going here since I was in eight grade and it has NEVER disappointed. The food is phenomenal and priced at a discount compared to similar restaurants. Their popovers with honey butter are to die for. It’s such a homey/cozy feel, it’s just unfortunate that they’re so tucked away in the basement of Macy’s. And the service is exceptional. Go here and spread the word! You will not be disappointed!

I enjoy going for lunch and sitting at the bar. They have great staff but can be a bit slow. So make sure you have time. They have a great fall line up. Truly delicious.

We went for an early dinner before a movie and they had happy hour M-F with drink and food specials. The popovers are fantastic. I had the walleye dinner and my friend had the meatloaf. Both were excellent and nice presentation also. Our waitress was very friendly. We will be back.
