Had a great tuna dish.
Best menu in town .
I have gone to the GEL many, many times for meals with my family and friends. I had a most disappointing experience today with my family. We tried the lounge for the first time today since the restaurant was busy. From our entering and seeing a glance between two of the workers of disappointment and irritation that we were going to sit there, to it taking 20+ minutes for our menus to be brought to us, and then never having our order taken for 40 minutes had us request the check for our drinks and we left. Was it because we spoke more than one language? Had (well-behaved) children with us? Or whatever else reason…as a customer who has spent thousands of dollars at this place over the years, today’s experience was embarrassing, hurtful, and disappointing. We love Ryan and MaCayla and the smiles they always have. Bob and the other woman from this evening were upsetting.
Beautiful views, good food, and excellent staff and service.
The food was absolutely delicious! There is a wide variety of food to choose from, which makes it hard to pick! Our server, Macaela, was friendly and attentive. The views from the restaurant are breathtaking, so make sure to ask for a window seat!
Price and atmosphere were great. Food is ok, just don't recommend the Eagle's Nest (Eggs Benedict). Eggs were over done (hard yolk) hollandaise sauce was sweet, not tangy (and very skimpy) and the English muffins were not crisped before plating.
Great food ,great service, friendly service.

Great lake view. Food was decent. Walleye sandwich is giant, would try the bluegill sandwich next time. Homeade tartar was tasty. Onion petals were good as well

We sat in the bar. Bob the bartender was amazing. We sat next to someone that seemed like he was a regular and he won $1000 in pull-tabs, pretty cool!
The wild rice soup was incredible - bread it came with was meh BUT the soup, mmmmm.
Spinach dip was super tasty
I didn’t have a lot of hope for the burger when we got it but it exceeded my expectations.
Buffalo wings hit the spot.

The place to eat
Went both nights during our stay at the Ely Lodge. All of the food we tried was awesome , and our server, Ann, was amazing. Glad to get her both evenings!

Had the fried bluegill, was absolutely blown away by how big the pieces were! Highly recommended

Caesar's Prime Rib sandwich was excellent ? Ultra tender prime rib cut on a soft sourdough hoagie with lettuce, tomato, and caesar salad dressing. Wonderful combination with a side of onion pedals (way better and onion rings in my opinion). Perfect stop for us hungry paddlers. Highly recommend if in the Ely area!
I went here twice. Once before going on a 7 day BWCA trip and once after. Rhetorical first time was great. Good was delicious. The 2nd time the server was upset and mad about something. Still would recommend it!
