Only had drinks but the service was great. The owners were both there working and one of them spent several minutes talking to us and filling us in on the local scene...she could not have been nicer.
Great food, great drinks and amazing staff. Super friendly and welcoming staff - loved chatting with the bartender! A must stop when you’re in Ely!
BBQ place. Counter order, then they bring it to your table. Food was delicious. Indoor and outdoor seating. Bar inside separate from food
Kid-friendliness: Kids menu with traditional options, all smoked and delicious
Parking: Big parking lot and roadside spots available
Finally, after more than a year wondering if this was an open or closed restaurant, we found an “open” sign and gave it a shot. Informal yet nice atmosphere, friendly wait staff and bartender. Food was good. Will come back again once they re-open in the spring?
We were here before and after our BWCA trip. The smoked meats are wonderful! Had the Divine Swine and the smoked burger. Both were great. Loved the patio, the fast service and the friendly owners, Dan and Kathy. Next time I will try the wood fired pizza…it looked amazing! Oh, and a great beer selection.
The food was great and the tap selection was perfect. I wish I could have tried each menu item. The tap menu allows you an introduction to each beer making the choice easier. Definitely a must if you're in Ely.
Stopped in for a drink after a matinee movie (at the restored State Theater!). It was a beautiful but warm day so we sat out on the patio in the shade. Very peaceful setting with a waterfall and gardens separating the patio from the busy road.
We were not aware of the changes made - so my husband was really looking forward to the same food he had last time. Unfortunately, we forgot last time was 5 years ago ?♀️So you order your food and they bring it to your table. So more like Culver's style. The food is smoked BBQ. We ate at a similar place in Charleston... and we enjoyed it. We also enjoyed Rockwood in Ely. Great food. Plenty of parking - we stopped here on our 4 wheelers. Follow the approved roads (the road running through town in front of the restaurant you cannot drive ATVs on (you can cross over).
We really enjoyed drinks and burgers at this easy-going restaurant with dog-friendly outdoor, covered seating. Their burgers are generous. The ambiance outdoors is fabulous!
$50 for two burgers and a small basket of fries. No waitresses so you have to wait in line to ask for utensils or anything. I can see the appeal if you're gonna sit outside and listen to music; but otherwise it's not worth it.

A couple years ago I would have said that I loved this restaurant. The atmosphere is rustic and comfortable. Food was very good. Unfortunately due to Covid, the restaurant changed to a completely different and limited menu that you order at a counter. Someone brings to you but if you want more than a soft drink, you have to go to the bar and get it yourself. They ask you to bus your table also. Food was pretty good. Hope they can get the help to go back to the old menu. Restaurant still looks nice inside.
Food was very tasty. We all had the divine swine which was a pulled pork sandwich. We ate outside on the patio. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Awesome dog friendly patio! Great food and drink selection! Fun place!
Don’t go there by yourself with a dog. You cannot order. You have to walk inside to order. But they don’t allow dogs inside. One of the food delivery people I won’t call them servers because they won’t take your order. Immediately told me I had to go outside with the dog. When I asked her how was I supposed to order she could not answer me. I went around to the outside window where there is a bartender and asked if I could order my sandwich through her. She told me no to leave my dog tied up alone with other dogs around and people and walk inside to order. At this point I just left. If you’re gonna be dog friendly there should be someway to order food. The town of Ely besides this experience has been great.
Who would've ever thought smoked wing would be a delicious menu item? I am happy that Rockwood did!
