The menu has clearly labeled vegan and vegetarian items, and our server was knowledgeable about the vegan options. There were some good choices given the location and type of restaurant. We each ordered the veggie skewer dinner, and it was wonderful. The food was hot and freshly prepared. The plate included two skewers that each had 4 large fresh shiitake caps, zucchini, bell pepper, red onion, and cauliflower. There was also a wild rice pilaf (or waffle fries), garden salad, and seasonal veggie which was fresh corn. The prices seemed a bit high, but they include a 20% gratuity already added in, so when you do the math that makes the base price was more typical. There will be an added surcharge for paying with card, so bring cash if you can. I would eat here again.

My favorite restaurant in Grand Marais. A few vegan options. Love the bbq sandwich and wild rice salad.

As a meat eater, I went out on a limb and tried a vegan mushroom and roasted vegetable dish. It was unbelievably good, and I certainly was not disappointed that I passed on the beef.

The food here is amazing. I appreciated the selection of fresh and local ingredients. I like how they put everything on the same plate. It makes it feel cozy, like you’re eating at a family potluck. They also have several flavors of house-made sodas, which was a real treat. Everything came out real quick, too.

I’m taking off a star because I was disappointed to see that the kitchen is so open to the dining room. Maybe we were just sat at the worst spot, but I just expected more from a restaurant that’s on the upscale side (we paid over $100 for our dinner of 2, with only one drink each). And to get to the back dining room, you have to pretty much go through the kitchen to get there, it’s weird. It lowers the ambiance, and I’m sure the staff doesn’t appreciate costumers being able to watch (and hear) their every move, either.

Wheelchair accessibility: They are completely wheelchair accessible. No stairs or thresholds. Bathroom is large.

We came here in the afternoon on a winter day and sat at a table right by the window. Our waitress was great. The food was fantastic. Best lake trout we’ve ever had. They serve waffle fries as a standard, not as an additional charge and I appreciate that because who doesn’t love a waffle cut? Doing things right at Angry Trout.

Great fish sandwiches, every time. One of the kids meal options is a healthy looking hot dog instead of what you find most other places. They also have a solid veggie burger. Their root beer is very smooth and tasty. Beautiful views from the table of the big lake.

I've always enjoyed The Fisherman's Daughter, but wanted to try this place because of the reviews. I had the cod fish and chips and a glass of pop. 27 bucks. The breading on the fish was tough and thick. The waffle fries were subpar, and the cole slaw was dry and bland. The only plus was their lemon-lime pop.I did have a nice spot to eat looking out on the deck and the harbor. But I would have had better food at Subway or DQ.

The involuntary surcharges added up to almost 40% on top of the prices you see in the menu. The service fee is "included" and fixed at 20% but deserves maybe 12%.

Went there for the fish of the day Trout or Herring according to the front fish list and the person up front dealing with all the customers, said there was a 1/2 hr wait turned out it was 1 hr 14 minutes, we were seated told the server what we wanted & got a response that they were out of trout, I'm not a herring person but gave it a try my wife had chicken fingers, didn't take that long to get the food. Did eat it but if I would have been told at the beginning we probably would have went someplace else.
