Amazing quality Peruvian restaurant in downtown Hopkins. Relaxing setting & very flavorful authentic food. Don’t skip dessert!
This month is my wife’s birthday, so I decided to start the celebration by inviting her to a restaurant from her country. We went to the Peruvian restaurant K'kinaco Nikkei & Pisco Bar where the service and atmosphere were very warm from begining to end. While we were enjoying the exquisite food, Chef Enrique came over to say hello and have a short and pleasant chat with us. To our surprise, when we finished dinner, they celebrated Carmen with a dessert made with her favorite Peruvian fruit: “Suspiro a la Limeña de LÚCUMA”. Believe me when I tell you that the food in Peru is delicious, and if you want to find it out, visit “K’kinaco” in Hopkins where we had a very good experience that we also recommend to many.
K'kinaco is an authentic and delightful culinary experience.
My mother is from Lima and it had been years since I found genuine Peruvian cuisine in the U.S. (outside of her kitchen). Enrique, the co-owner, met with us and told us the story of the restaurant and his family's experience coming from Peru (his father was the head chef working that night). I brought my fiancee and her mother and together, we sampled some delicious ceviche and nikkei offerings. I specifically recommend the K'kinaco and Mancora rolls, complex and refreshing sushi options that perfectly marry the flavors of traditional Peruvian fare (e.g., citrusy leche de tigre, sweet potato) with those of Japan (e.g., hamachi, escolar).
To finish the experience off, we shared orders of crema volteada and suspiro de limena, two quintessential desserts from Peru. These were exquisitely presented and equally tasty; they did not last long on our table. We loved the desserts so much we asked Enrique if we could serve them at our wedding in downtown Minneapolis (spoiler: he agreed and they were a huge hit!)
Whether you are looking for genuine Peruvian food, curious about the fusion of Japanese / Peruvian dishes, or simply want to try the national drink of 2 South American countries (obviamente el estilo Peruano es mejor), K'kinaco has what you are looking for. Provecho!

The food was delish! The base sauce in the Ceviche was very flavorful, and it brought out many savory tastes in the various portions of whitefish, roasted corn, & sweet potato. Additionally, our friendly server, Jake, was very helpful in explaining menu items and recommending house specialities and traditional drinks. Thanks, Farmer Jake!

Great experience here. What a hidden gem. We loved the food and the service was great.
We started with the yuca fries and yellowtail cheek. Both were delicious. I would have preferred the yellowtail cheek to be more crispy, but it was still delicious. The yellowtail did smell a little fishy but you did not taste it at all. So don't let that sway you away
For the entre we tried the Aji de gallina, inka roll, ceviche and the chef special NY strip.
The Aji de gallina was a rice dish, it was shredded chicken in a creamy sauce, Aji Amarillo. It had a very unique flavor that was delicious.
I loved the inka roll, it was recommended by the waiter. I think it was torched. If you get a roll try this.
The ceviche was my favorite, it's made with Mahi Mahi and had two types of corn included and sweet potatoes. I was told that Peru has many varieties of corn and it's not just the typical one we see here.
The chef's special NY strip was grilled to perfection, not chewy at all. This dish came with a larger corn kernel, and fried Peruvian yellow potatoes and a very delicious salsa.
Over all I would go again to try the other dishes, and dessert!
