Wow wow great food, great service i had the pork chop i would order it again the cocktails where spot on ( old fashioned) the food is all Minnesota small farmers A great way to support Minnesota grown, Hidden gem in hopkins
Marybeth was an incredible waitress and made sure we knew everything about where the food was sourced and her recommendations. They have nothing but absolutely delicious locally-sourced food, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. You can tell so much care, thought and intention goes into the food here.We were a group of 12 and we were able to sit all together for my birthday.
Been here for after work happy hour twice in the last two weeks. Have had great service and I love the atmosphere. It's hard to find a fun place these days that isn't too loud so this is a real gem! I'm happy to have found Thirty Bales as a great option for catching up with friends.Parking: Free parking lot across the street

Molly was a GREAT server. My friend is a chef and has restaurant industry experience so I almost never enjoy eating out with them. ;) BUT, when they said they wanted to go out for their birthday dinner, it was a no-brainer to choose Thirty Bales. They loved the pork chop on bone AND the risotto AND the bourbon cheesecake. Whew!!! For me, the short rib pot pie and apple crisp were their usual deliciousness. Oh, that Tiny Feet coffee <3 Thank you, Thirty Bales for always providing me with a great place to take all friends, picky foodies, just want a great experience, love locally sourced food. I'm not saying I moved to Hopkins because of Thirty Bales, but I will say that it's on my list of "why I love living here" list. <3

FYI, this place has incredibly rigid stupid rules about seating. They turned two parties away even though half the restaurant was empty because they both refuse to scoot tables together and refuse to add chairs to tables. We will never go here again. Humorously we then just strolled down the street to pub819 who immediately scooted a couple of tables together for us. Go there.

Thirty Bales is a neighborhood eatery that has good food, service and prices. The ambience is neither luxurious nor severe, simply comfortable. Service was attentive but not overbearing. All in all diner was enjoyable and tasty.

My husband and I had a date night here tonight; great food and cocktails, a great variety of options on the menu; we went with the short rib pot pie and short rib lasagna-both amazing. The owner greeted us and was so attentive making sure everything was good, definitely will be coming back soon!!

We have been to this restaurant several times. Unfortunately, the most recent dinner was a big disappointment. The service was fine, a bit slow to take drink orders, but they were not heavily staffed and we know getting help is hard. The short rib pot pie was good, the short rib lasagna was also good but not hot. The cauliflower tacos, which we've ordered before, were a huge disappointment this time. The first time ordering, the amount of cauliflower was fine, but this more recent time, there was hardly any cauliflower. The onion taste was totally overwhelming, felt like we were eating strong onion tacos.

Lunch menu had great selection’s. Cubano sandwich was very good as well as the walleye sandwich. The chicken and sausage gumbo was a bit spicy so just a warning. Juicy Lucette didn’t have much cheese in the middle. Apple crisp was fantastic! Mocktails we’re yummy too. Adam was a nice server. Atmosphere was contemporary and quite lovely!

We have dined at Thirty Bales many times. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was a disappointment. The service was fine, as was the vibe. We had three entrees - the short rib pot pie was good, the short rib lasagna should have been warmer and the cauliflower tacos were not good at all. I've ordered these tacos before and liked them, but the ones I got in latest visit hardly had any cauliflower at all. The onion was totally overwhelming and I am not even sure what the onion was in because it is not even mentioned in the item description. It basically tasted like I was eating very strong onion tacos.

Stopped in with a friend for a midweek lunch. Staff was very friendly and attentive. There were several menu items that appealed but we both ended up with the wild rice soup. It was delicious! Not the thick version you see most often - it was a lighter offering with loads of veggies and great broth. Will definitely be coming back again to try other things. Great place if you want a nice meal where you can have a conversation without loud music.
