A Masterclass in Hospitality and Culinary Artistry

Demi delivered an extraordinary dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the staff demonstrated an attentive, informed, and genuinely present style of service that I have not experienced since Japan. Every interaction felt intentional and gracious without being intrusive, knowledgeable without being rehearsed.

The menu was luxurious, beautifully paced, and executed with impeccable precision. Each course carried its own identity, yet flowed seamlessly into the next, and the level of detail in both presentation and flavor was astounding. It’s rare to find a team so aligned in their craft, where the culinary vision and the service experience elevate one another to this degree.

If you’re seeking a dining experience that marries thoughtfulness, refinement, and true hospitality, Demi is unmatched. An unforgettable evening.

The food is amazing and we had one demi pairing and one temperance pairing. Perfect for trying a lot of new drinks and sharing. I loved the Temperance pairing of infusions and spiced drinks. I enjoyed them so much I would choose it over the wine. It was a great variety. A wide variety in the selection for the tasting. I would go there again to try out the menus in different seasons. They brought me a little special treat at the end for my birthday.

Bright, Scandinavian-style café with that clean, simple charm. Had the smoked salmon toast with poached egg — light, fresh, totally balanced. Coffee’s strong, pastries flaky, and the staff keeps it chill. Feels like a quiet morning in Northern Europe dropped into downtown Minneapolis.

An Unforgettable Culinary Experience!

Demi is, without question, one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had—and that includes several Michelin-starred restaurants. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The food was absolutely phenomenal, with each course thoughtfully crafted and executed to perfection.

The service was attentive, polished, and personal without ever feeling intrusive. What truly sets Demi apart is the experience itself—an intimate and exclusive setting with seating for only about twenty guests, where you can watch the chefs skillfully prepare each dish right in front of you. The cocktails and wine pairings were equally outstanding, complementing the flavors beautifully.

Demi is not just a meal; it’s a culinary performance. Every detail is intentional, every bite memorable. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Exceptional atmosphere, service, and food. The wine pairing complemented the food well and included some unique varieties. A la carte cocktails were also excellent and well balanced. The slightly staggered reservations works very well; there was barely a wait time between courses. A beautiful and well-thought-out dining experience. Of the great tasting menu options in the twin cities metro, this might be a new favorite.

I was in Minneapolis the other night and decided to slide into this spot called Demi. I’d heard people talk about how crazy their dishes were, so I figured, why not? I’m always down to try something fancy once in a while. They brought out the Au Bon Canard Foie Gras Terrine,I ain’t even gonna lie, that dish blew me away.

The presentation alone was wild looked like something out of a five star food mag. Soon as I took that first bite, it was over. Silky smooth, rich as hell, and it just melted in my mouth. The flavor hit hard but stayed classy buttery, delicate, and packed with that deep, savory punch only good foie gras got. Pair that with the little fruit compote they served on the side? Bro, that combo was straight fire.

The whole vibe at Demi was elite low lighting, chill music, and that kinda energy where you know the chef means business. Staff treated me like a VIP, for real. I walked out that place feeling like I just had a food experience, not just a meal.

If you ever find yourself in Minneapolis, you gotta hit up Demi and try that Au Bon Canard Foie Gras Terrine. It’s next level good rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Straight up, I highly recommend it.

This restaurant, a Relais & Châteaux property, aspires to, and achieves a standard few kitchens in America can match. It is, in many ways, the closest I have encountered to the perfection of Chef Thomas Keller owner of the famed The French Laundry.

At Demi, Chef Gavin Kaysen leads a rigorous kitchen with the generosity of a great host. His staff contacted me the morning of our reservation to confirm my wife’s semi vegetarian eating preferences. The name Gavin Kaysen was familiar to me, as we have eaten at Mara at the four seasons many times after staying there for a concert or baseball game. What was amazing was it was only days before our reservation that I happened upon his triumph on Chopped All-Stars, where he cooked for the sake of his Charity and gave his winnings to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund. His televised victory, impressive though it was, did little to foreshadow the rarefied discipline and generosity with his time that I would observe in person.

From the arc of the horseshoe counter, we watched a kitchen in synchronized motion: cooks moving with unspoken coordination, sauces placed with precision, garnishes set artistically on each plate. The food was a narrative of flavor, texture, and restraint; It was not heavily influenced by seasoning. It was rich and unique. The small, almost secret surprises between courses and the wine pairings, each deepened the quality of the evening.

What lingers, though, is not just the cuisine, but the generous spirit behind it. At the peak of first service, with every seat in the room filled and the kitchen at full tilt, Kaysen and I caught eyes and he paused to step over and join us for a few moments. It was not a gesture of obligation but of genuine curiosity and warmth, a reminder that great dining is not solely about what is on the plate but who stands behind it.

This is a restaurant I would choose without hesitation to host clients, friends, or any special guest I wished to see experience a level of elegance, not often seen in Minneapolis.
Mr. Kaysen told me about his next project on the horizon in Naples, I suspect my future travel plans may soon be shaped not by destination, but by his kitchen.

If you are ready to spend a crazy amount on dinner, go to Demi as it is worth every penny. Took my son (Aug 2025) to send him of for study abroad and to celebrate his birthday I’d miss while he was gone. He is a super adventurous eater and each course was delicious and gorgeous. Staff were welcoming and we loved the non-alcoholic mocktails and wines. I missed photos of some courses, but you’ll get the idea. ENJOY!

Outstanding. Truly a memorable dining experience for us to celebrate our midlove anniversary - the date we've been together longer than not.

Not for the fussy diner - the menu is pre fixe and exceptionally executed. Just accept what you're served and enjoy!

Easily the best restaurant not just in Minneapolis, but in the entire Midwest. This is my go-to spot for important occasions, and it never disappoints. If you’re comfortable with the price point, there’s really nothing to complain about—the experience is seamless. In fact, I find Demi to be surprisingly affordable when you compare the quality to many other top-tier restaurants.

The team is always evolving the menu, introducing fresh and creative ideas while keeping the stability of their signature dishes. Every plate is flawlessly executed—from earthy, soul-warming broths to perfectly cooked mains—and the desserts are truly top tier.

I’ve been fortunate to dine at hundreds of Michelin-starred restaurants, James Beard winners, and some of the most inventive kitchens around the world, and Demi still stands among the very best. The fact that it’s right here in the Midwest makes it even more remarkable.

Demi is definitely once-in-a-lifetime experience everyone should have.
