Super service and an unexpectedly wonderful hot dog. Great vibes, no tip prices and lots of character!

Kyatchi has been on my list for a few years and we finally hit to go. The next week I found myself wondering if it was too soon to go back. For drinks o had their house ginger ale and loved it. If you’re thinking of bottled ginger ale, this is not that. This is more like a ginger shot for a juice place but with other flavors and mellow enough to sip. My wife had a glass of wine that was meh.
We ordered the potstickers and they are cooked in true pit sticker style, cooked on a dry pan then steamed. The wrappers felt hand made but I didn’t confirm. My wife got a couple sushi rolls that she loved and I ordered a hit fig that was delicious. The hotdogs are long and hard to eat but really tasty. They don’t cone with American style condiments but whatever you ordered (mushrooms or avocado and egg salad for example).
Really glad we went. I think we’ll go back, probably this year.

Kyatchi never disappoints! Fantastic neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Everything, from the sushi to the ramen and hot dogs, is consistently delicious. Also has friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Their summer roll was so good. I also never had a pressed roll before and I loved it!

Unique dishes, sushi was pretty good, price was a bit higher than I think is warranted. However I would go back again with friends.

Small cozy dining area, with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Good vibes to go with the great food. Portions are as excellent as the flavors. Clean plates all around and a definite place to visit again.

I’ve been going here for years, I think since they first opened and there was much more of the baseball emphasis (which was awesome). Honestly it’s one of the best sushi places in the twin cities - good quality rice, the fish is consistently tasty and fresh, love the authentic recipes and sushi offerings (especially anything with scallop and the ume shiso maki). Also great selection of sake and a really good happy hour. The only thing that hasn’t worked is the ramen, but everything else is wonderful, especially whatever is on special. Also the staff is super professional and attentive. Thanks for being a consistently great restaurant!

Our server was very nice. The food took a very long time to arrive (restaurant was not busy). The agedashi tofu is enormous which makes it harder to have enough of the crispy outer edge to dip in the sauce, and the sauce was not as flavorful as most I’ve tried. The veggie ramen broth was underwhelming.

Food was delicious. Fish quality some of the best in the city. Waitress could not have wanted to serve us any less. Service lackluster at best.

I really wanted to like this place, but it honestly felt like a rip-off. Our bill was just over $100, and the food just wasn’t good. I get that the prices are higher (about 19%) because they pay staff more and don’t require tipping, but it still felt like we paid a 30% tip for a meal that didn’t come close to being worth it.

$30 for six pieces of sushi and the fish looked lifeless and sad. All I could really taste was rice. Honestly, the $15 sushi box from Kowalski’s tastes way better.

Kara-age chicken —the chicken tasted old, like it was starting to turn green. Crispy though! we still ate everything we ordered because it’s so expensive 😩

Service was okay—not too bad, but nothing special either. And since servers get 20% no matter what, it didn’t feel like there was much effort to be friendly or make the experience great.

Not trying to trash the place, just hoping this honest review helps them step it up. As it is, I wouldn’t go back.

My favorite sushi spot in all the Midwest. Very fresh and tasty sushi, restaurant has a transportive feel with ocean murals and some street style vibes integrated which is a nice escape in the middle of winter - the drinks here also are incredible and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Fun to even come here alone and sit at the bar and watch the world go by over some rolls and martinis.

I do not understand how people consider this place to be good. The food was terribly underwhelming. There are definitely better options price and flavor wise in the cities.

The food was absolutely delicious and it was a very nice place but we will likely not return. I felt the portion size and beers were not worth the price tag for us. I would also want people to know that they require everyone to pay a %19 service charge.
