I picked up donuts here for my coworkers and 5 of them pulled me aside to tell me that these were the best donuts they ever had. Literally, I have never seen so many people so excited about how delicious a donut was. Thanks for making me the work hero for a day!!

We got a bag of donuts to go including the apple fritters and cherry bombs, which are their special specialties and are big hits in our family.

I like donuts. These donuts must have about half a stick of butter or cream in each donut. They dont do a lot of psychedelic donuts. Mostly its the basics. Glazed cinnamon rolls are my favorites. Soft, almost mushy in your mouth. Not a lot of air in the dough....which is amazing. Soo....if you are out for a walk in SE Minnesota, and feel like negating the positive effects of the exercise you are getting, this would be my recommendation.

These are the best donuts I've had in the Twin Cities. I brought these into work and had so many comments about how great they were. The owner was super friendly and I got some delicious free donut holes.

I've enjoyed Mel-O-Glaze baked goods since the late '70s. The donut that they became famous for is the glazed raised donut, my favorite for years. Through the years they have expanded the variety of donuts and other bakery sweets such as cookies and bars. They have newer donuts such as the maple bacon donut and cereal frosted donuts. A favorite of mine theee is the very big cinnamon crispy. Mel-O-Glaze is definitely an institution in South Minneapolis, on the Minnehaha Parkway near Lake Nokomis. Lake Hiawatha is just down the road.

I've been coming here since I was a little boy, and the donuts were just as good twenty years ago as they are now. The persistence of this small, local bakery to create fun, delicious treats is matched only in the community's commitment to their craft. The woman who runs the place is extraordinarily kind despite being so busy it could make your head spin. She still takes the time to connect with customers. Even if its over the phone, as during Covid and on and off since she'll let folks in over the phone to serve themselves on the honor system. A monument to the Nokomis neighborhood. Every time I'm back in town I stop by the bakery without fail. I've lived on the East and West coast, but have never found a better donut. I preach their work to the world, and hope you'll find a moment to understand why.

Great local bakery thats been serving the neighborhood for a very long time. When we went it was self serve and my girlfriend with a sweet tooth was in heaven. The person on the phone was super helpful and friendly. Fun experience to have a great donut in the afternoon considering most places close early.

Honestly a really bizarre (but not bad) experience!! haha. I guess sometimes they don't have staff available to work, so you have to call a number to get a code to come inside-- then you pick out what you want (self serve) and also ring yourself up. You can call the number to figure out how to ring yourself up, but they use Toast so it's pretty easy to figure it out. I paid with cash so I wasn't sure where to put it? They didnt have a register.. so I put it under the toast card reader...? The interior is pretty halloween theme right now, but it's a little tacky. Reminds me of someones grandparents junk basement. Not bad, but kinda silly. I rung myself up for their brownie ($4) and it was alright! Pretty traditional brownie, might be a couple days old based on how the sprinkles look & how it tasted, but no problem. I probably wont be coming back because it's.. maybe too bizarre for me. I love the creativity, unique items, and the trust they have in their community-- but I like the face to face human interactions too much. Those are usually what I base my reviews on. Guy on the phone sounded kind! Probably a busy guy, but yeah. Confusing situation unless there's employees available on site. Oh parking is pretty difficult to find as well. This is more of a spot to stop by while you're going on a walk.
