Purchased a used Mazzer Robur from this shop that was for sale on Craigslist at an absolute STEAL of a price. Figured that being used in a cafe setting it would be ridden hard and put away wet, but upon disassembling and thoroughly cleaning out this beast, I was shocked to see the oem conical burrs in surprisingly good shape without any noticeable chipping on them... Seriously like 9/10 condition which I certainly did not expect at all! Had originally intended on purchasing a set of SSP's but have reconsidered in light of that discovery. So yeah, a top of the line halo grinder for around 17% of what they regularly trade hands for used - and you almost never EVER see one come up for sale at a great price. Suffice to say I am very happy with my purchase and Naomi was extremely professional to deal with!

This place was really busy on a Saturday afternoon and parking was tricky. Once you're inside there's lots of places to sit but there were few spaces left. It's not terribly noisy but it's also not really what I would call cozy.

I tried a decaf latte that wasn't decaf at all and the roast was mostly burnt. It wasn't terribly expensive but with the roast being not great and the decaf not being decaf at all I probably wouldn't go back.

It seems like people really like this place so you make your own decisions.

Dietary restrictions: You can substitute ingredients.

I’ve been meaning to stop in here for a while and finally did today; I was super impressed! It’s surprisingly hard to find a good cappuccino in the city and the one I ordered was perfectly crafted! The ratios and texture were spot on. The baristas were friendly and efficient. The atmosphere felt really comfortable and chill despite being pretty busy. I’ll definitely be back!

Really good coffee and cool atmosphere. Very spacious inside did not feel crowded at all. Price was reasonable. And if you get just a regular coffee and want to hang out free refills.
They also have lots to look at and things for sale. When I was there there was someone selling vinyl records kind of cool.
That gets busy at peak times but the staff is always on top of it. They even have water and cups good dehydrate as you drink coffee.
Cool place to check out if you're into coffee and coffee shops it's a unique place!

The perfect coffee shop to meet with a group or work remotely! I did not expect it to be so huge inside, but there’s a spot for everyone— a nook with couches that a mom group was meeting at, tables for solo workers, and everything in between. The vibes were very cozy inside.

The baristas were really nice and the north shore latte was delicious. The only downside was parking on the street was very full because of how popular the spot is.

This place is simply superior. The staff is so friendly and helpful when you explain what kind of flavors you like as far as black coffee and flavor notes etc. They roast it themselves and I appreciate the well versed baristas! Not to mention their lattes/specialty drinks never miss and the atmosphere is adorable. I’ve been a fan of them since before they had to move locations. I moved away and still ordered bags of their coffee shipped. I drive out of my way just for Northern so I felt I should finally write the glowing review they deserve!

The drip coffee brew changes drastically as it cools. They have a medium roast, and it tastes quite bitter when it’s super hot almost like a dark roast but after 7 minutes as it cools it’s mellowed out, much more smooth and tastes more like a light roast. I’ve never experienced coffee changing this drastically before, and it was an enlightening experience. If you get an iced coffee- you don’t need to worry! I had the cold brew with oat milk and maple 🍁, it was amazing and $5.50. They have lots of space so it’s perfect for networking and working and also have compost on-site and water easily accessible. I loved that they had a few vegan options, but they are only packaged options- Tao’s Bakes and some cute looking date bar snacks. I’ve been twice now and both times the pastry section was almost cleaned out, so they may have more earlier in the day or at less busy times.

I love northern coffee and love that they offer celiac safe gluten free options from sift! The banana bread is the best. The merch is so good and I’m always so sad when I wait too long to grab a great design! Gotta be faster.

This coffee shop was nice and spacious, with incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I had the smoked sea salt mocha, which was good. I had tried another coffee shop this same morning and had to throw out the coffee, so this was a very welcome cup of coffee. I also had the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was passable, but the dominant flavor was bland white rice, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for more depth of flavor.

I love Northern Coffee. You guys have the best , yummy and creative drinks - your BWCA blend is fire.

I hope that you will continue to think creatively about how one could grab a cup of to-go coffee while walking one’s dog. Sipping Northern coffee while walking through Hiawatha Park with a pup is one of my favorite things and so challenging to achieve. It honestly stops me from drinking your coffee more than I want it too and, based on your reviews, it would seem that I am not alone. I don’t know if an online ordering portal or a walk up to go window might be a solution or something else entirely! Hope that you will think about a solution that works for everyone

I’m not local, but I travel to Minneapolis once a year and make a point to try different coffee shops when I’m there. I didn’t try any of the food, but can say without a doubt it’s the best coffee and espresso I’ve tried in Minneapolis so far. If you’re a coffee lover I highly suggest kick starting your day at Northern Coffeeworks. Can’t wait for my next visit!
