We’ve enjoyed brunch, dinner, and just appetizers here over the years in conjunction with attending performances at The Guthrie Theater. Actually, once we can another time just for the food. If you want truly five-star food and service, The Sea Change restaurant doesn’t disappoint. It’s “sustainable seafood” and raw bar have served us both super fresh and unique dishes each time. For anyone living in the Twin Cities and wanting exceptional dining with fish as the featured dishes, or are visiting here, the Sea Change experience is worth the added price! We don’t think that exceptional food and service should be at comparable prices for typical dishes. The creativity of the chef and staff merits a special outing and tipping them too. We’ve had the same server more than once, and really found her most pleasant and helpful.I recommend trying the tuna tartare, oysters, and mussels if you are between appealing entrée options. The staff gave us suggestions as to accompanying drinks and we found their advice was right on.We give Chef Tim McKee and Culinaire high praise for the atmosphere and how this restaurant stands out for serving both the local community and out-of-town visitors who are looking for something unique and well-executed.For cocktails both Toes in the Sand and Snow Cone are terrific orange infused beverages. On one cold frost day in particular, they served up some of the best hot chocolates we’ve had.Parking is no problem and we love dining by its huge and beautiful windows. We’ve brought guests 3x and each party really enjoyed the experience and expressed their appreciation. We want to return now that the Guthrie has resumed performances!

This place is either out of business or closed. The don’t answer their phone and the reservation sites won’t accept reservations for seachange.

FOOD: Okay, I was wrong. I approached this place as a convenient space to get dinner before a show and really anticipated location to be its main draw, but man-- the food really stands on its own. I've visited in the summer, fall, and winter seasons, and the menus delivered every time. Had some beautifully prepared scallops last time, and taste/preparation didn't suffer a bit at the expense of some beautiful plating. Vegetarian options were available and delicious, ingredients were clearly fresh and super tasty... this is a restaurant with food that I would drive from St. Paul to downtown Minneapolis through rush hour to experience. COCKTAILS: These are creative, delicious, and so beautiful. On par with the offerings at dedicated cocktail bars, and the prices are fairly reasonable but by no means affordable. AMBIENCE: A perfect date night spot, whether on its own or prior to a show at the Guthrie. Beautifully large windows, thoughtful layout... and outdoor seating with a view of Gold Medal Park in the nicer weather. BATHROOMS: Pristine and close, around the corner from the entrance to the restaurant with lots and lots of stalls, at least in the ladies' room. PARKING: Usually, I've gotten street parking, though I do believe there's a garage across the street.

Ok food, with little flavor. Muscle were over cooked with an unimpressive sauce, prawns were bitter. The tuna tartar was the only dish I enjoy there. Beautiful restaurant, delicious drinks, but poor service from the moment you enter to when you leave...took over 10mins before someone to even acknowledge us even with reservations and drinks were served when we were already done with our meal. Would not recommend nor do I have any desire to ever go back.

Amazing place for a date night - courteous and knowledgeable server, great presentation, food that you can't stop raving about, and that amazing ambience. The price can be a little steep but it is an upscale dining location so as long as you know what you signed up for, the evening can only get as lovely as you wish. The cheese plate appetizer is ooh-la-la. Left me with the best impression for the night! The Branzino entree was quite delectable - despite lacking a little in the presentation department. Wish I could upload some pics but the app has just not been working for me on showing thumbnails.

So I came to this beautiful city for an interview. The pre-interview dinner was slated to be here. So this was attached to The Guthrie, which from what I was told is a pretty big venue for theater. The ambience was on the fancier side. It was a large space with a modern feel. There was a sous chef area in the middle of the venue where you could see some food being prepared. I got the ice berg salad and the scallops. The vinaigrette was a good mix of sweet and sour, which added a refreshing crisp. The caramelized brie was a nice touch. I was surprised by how it was cooked since I actually thought it was halloumi at first. The pork belly was cooked well...not too salty and quite tender. The scallops were cooked to perfection. Nice crisp on one side and not chewy at all. It was served with this bread pudding that was a touch salty for me but the vanilla parsnip puree helped to take the edge from that. The salad it was served with had a similar feel to the vinaigrette of the ice berg salad. Our service was good. We were checked on constantly, but I guess it also wasn't a super busy night. I'd check this place out again if I was back in town.

Some of the best seafood I’ve had and I’m surprised I found it in Minneapolis. Make sure you try the grilled octopus. You won’t be sorry. Ok, maybe you will but only because you can’t have it every night.
