Arrived at restaurant on a Sat night for a reservation ahead of show and front door was locked, only to be told it was held for a private event and we would not be served, despite having confirmed the reservation ahead of time by both text & Open Table. Either Smith & Porter or Open Table really really screwed up by taking the reservations. Avoid this place. Open Table needs to fix the app from taking unfulfillable reservations.
We had a wonderful family dinner at Smith and Porter last night. Arrived before 6:00 and took advantage of the fabulous deals on their happy hour menu. We were seated at at a large round table and the whole family was able to interact and hear each other. Our server was a delight!

The service was wonderful and attentive without being bothersome. The atmosphere was nice and chill. I had the Pomelo Kick from the Zero Proof menu and would definitely order another. The asparagus soup was tasty and my wife enjoyed the gnudi. I had the burger and was unimpressed. I ordered it medium and it was closer to rare. The amount of dijonaise and onion jam made me feel like I needed a shower after eating it. Far too messy considering we were going to the Guthrie afterwards. I'd be fine going back but won't get the burger
Everything was great but wow. The cherry bread pudding was a whole next level thing. The duck leg confit was executed very well.Nice atmosphere and good service. Prices were on par with similar restaurants.Seriously. The cherry bread pudding.
Parking: Not bad
We waited 1 hour 13 miniutes for entree. 3 tables that came in after us ate & left before we received food. When I asked about food after 55 minutes waitress said “it's coming”, waited 20 minutes more.
We really enjoyed our dinners, the Caesar salad was truly authentic, the bouillabaisse was flavorful, the gnocchi was excellent. I would say the food was on the top of my list of restaurants I have visited in my three trips to Minneapolis in the past year. I've been to too many trendy downtown spots where it seems like it's more about being seen than the food.
Great place for Mill District area dinner. Zoe was awesome. The steak, brussels, and hen were delicious. Paired well with their Old Fashioned. Staff super friendly and present. Will definitely go back.
We stopped in for a business dinner. I had the crispy chicken sandwich, friend had the sea bass. Th location is clean and quiet, but very dated. The server seemed busy with other things, but the restaurant was empty. I found the sandwich a decent but plain. The fish portion was small. The menu choices seemed dated. This visit wasn't offensive or dirty, just not exciting.
The food was amazing. I ordered the sea bass, it was prepared perfectly, the skin was crispy and the inside was flakey but juicy. My husband ordered the hen, and it was juicy throughout.

My husband recently brought me to Smith $ Porter's attached casual cafe called “Cream” on a gray winter day. The soup and sandwiches we ordered were delicious and warming, and the table-level “flickering flames” heater made the indoor cafe cozy. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. And as we chose dessert from a case of decadent brownies and pastries, we vowed to come back often!
Soups were excellent and the choices were great. Pork chop was cooked and and tender. Wife took her friend three days later for happy hour and was even more pleased when she tried the cauliflower wings. Thanks a bunch
Brunch on Sunday with a friend was delightful. I love the Cream Cheese and Lox on a bagel. Had brunch with my husband and daughter a few weeks back. One of the better Shrimp and Grits I've had and I've had a lot. Husband enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. The service was excellent.

Definitely a must dine ?The Food, Service and the Warm Room on a cold Minneapolis night... on point. Kudos to the Smith & Porter team!
