I used to come here all the time, but my recent visits have been just unbelievable. The cooking staff are on POINT.Chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes are unbelievable. Rich, yet I ate the entire thing... SO GOOD. As is catfish, and waffles. I preferred the regular waffle over the waffle crisp waffle. Veggie burger, etc. -- it has all been just outstanding. Obsessed. And thanks so much to the kind, competent wait staff.

Always a great experience at uptown diner. I like the vibe better in uptown but feel like there's something better about the food (just a little) at new Louisiana in St. Paul. Either way, must have when I'm in the twin cities.

The entrance was a little surprising. A lot of printed reminders that bathrooms are only for customers and then they had a hand written written sign asking customers to grab their own menu from a messy stack of menus and seat themselves. My server was polite, nice, and helpful at first, but I never got a refill the entire time I was there. She then gave me my check without asking if I needed anything else, which was a pity, because I was looking forward to getting some cheesecake that she was telling the table next to me about. She also just left my empty plate and empty cups on my table the entire time I was there.I got the steak and eggs and an order of sweet potato tots. The steak and eggs themselves were okay. The hashbrowns tasted like they were fried on old oil. And ended up just tasting like the oil itself. The sweet potato tots were great, but they give you an entire plate full of tots for some reason, so I got tired of them about a quarter of the way through the plate.Overall, the place doesn't really seem proud of itself or interested in return customers.

We went to the Uptown Diner when in Mpls the other weekend... one of my frequented fav's when in town, however...We had breakfast... I had glass of apple juice with my breakfast = $6.97 my wife had a glass of orange juice with hers... similar price, aaand, a "Surcharge" of $8.97 on the tab forrrr...???All in all, breakfast for 2 cost approx $70.00!!!Breakfast...Why do you suppose that is...?I think the price of the apple and orange juice, should have covered the Tip & Surcharge.I *USED to* Love this place... can't say as we'll be going back any time soon as this visit left a bitter-sour taste in my mouth & wallet...

The food isn’t as good as it used to be. The innards of my omelette were burnt and my wife’s eggs Benedict was super salty. The service was terrible. The place felt a lot more grimy than years past. It’s been 8 years since I was last here. I hope they can turn it around as this place used to be awesome.

I have tried this place 2 separate times and the food is terrible. They may give big portions but it's always dry, no flavor or seasoning. It's all just rushed and made with no love and is priced way to high for the garbage that's served. I had better meals in jail. I hope they will learn to actually cook if they want to charge that much.

I thought it was a pretty average diner experience overall. If most of the other restaurants are closed in the area, then I might choose this one. The menu is overpriced for the quality of the food that they offer. I thought that my burger was overcooked, yet still lukewarm. The coffee sucked. I spent the same amount of money at Red Cow (also in this area) and Nicollet Diner (near to the area), which provided better quality food, service, and price. Skip it, and go somewhere better.

Good food. Out server seemed a little frazzled. But still did an adequate job. The meals came fast, and since it’s seat yourself, we got a table right away. Decent coffee. No complaints.
