Sushi is mid, add another 25 minutes to your to go orders, even during off times
I like the food here but their service is lackluster for takeout. I arrived 15 minutes after I was told my food would be ready and it was still not ready during a not very busy lunch hour. Additionally about 4 of the wait staff were just standing at the front counter gossiping. One girl said she’d check on my order and never gave me an update so a second girl had to check on it.
Most delicious fried fish!
Best sushi around lake Calhoun!
Best happy hour sushi in the twin cities!
Always great food. My steak was cooked perfectly. I don't eat seafood, which is served in the bento box. I asked if there was a substitution for the California roll, and the server said the owner doesn't allow substitutions, so I wasted a lot of food. A little side of edamame, instead of the rolls, would have been appreciated. I have gotten a sub here before, so I'm not sure if I wasn't supposed to previously, or if today's particular server just didn't want to. Regardless, it made me second guess coming back.
Service was meh. I waited a while to be acknowledged, and when she did come, she seemed very rushed. I got the vibe that I should quickly order so she could move on. It was uncomfortable. Separately, when I first arrived, the hostess seated me next to the garbage cans. I asked if I could have a differnet seating, the host hemmed and hawed, then she relented but only after a little bit of grief.
This was an unusual and weird experience. I've been to this restaurant numerous times and I've always loved it. I was really disappointed in the service and I felt like I had bothered the host by asking to not sit next to the garbage, and the server was so rushed I felt like I was bothering her. Not a great experience.
Still, the food is great. I'm just not sure I want to return due to staff.
If your looking for an experience you’d probably go elsewhere but it was okay.
Always good food. Love going whenever I'm near by.
If you are rating this below 4 stars, consider therapy. Wakame is so good. That’s all that needs to be said.

Don’t let the food deceive you, you will never find a boss who treats his workers (a majority of which are teenagers) worse than George the owner - regardless of the facade he puts on for customers. There’s also a lot of broken and gross things in the restaurant that customers can’t see. You would not eat in this restaurant if you saw the way the owner talks to the people who work so hard for him, and generally just the way he “manages”. No idea who let him own a restaurant, he never learned how to respect humans but he demands all of it.
The food was affordable and amazing. The wait staff was great.

Went here for a birthday celebration. I loved the potstickers and cream cheese wontons. The salad and sushi were pretty good. Service was ok.

Food was underwhelming and overpriced. Service was slow and unattentive as my water wasn't refilled the entire service there. The atmosphere was loud and a woman fell to the floor and hit her head and knocked unconscious with blood all over the floor. It appears she was served too much alcohol and fell out of her chair when trying to leave. She was very belligerent when she regained consciousness as she was refusing to go to hospital with paramedics. There is much better sushi out there that's better priced in a much better atmosphere. Try a different location unless you don't mind overpaying in a loud environment. This was my first and last time going to this location.
