Very peaceful quiet vibe. Amazing vegan Pho
I found this place online, while searching for a place that provided plenty of vegetarian options that my wife might enjoy.
I was not expecting to love the food as much as I did, as I'm still fairly new, somewhat hesitant to try plant-based/vegan foods. But the Pad Thai and the Fried Lemongrass Chili Tofu - I couldn't eat enough of both and the serving size was more than adequate for the both of us to share. The depth of flavor in the Pad Thai was excellent, as I feel many dishes elsewhere hide the food behind the sauces and this is not one of those.
The food was excellent but felt light and I wasn't feeling stuffed but extremely satisfied.
We can't wait to go back and try more dishes, as it was hard to narrow down to two entrees and two appetizers.
and then I spoke with the waiter when I went to pay the bill and he told me about it being a family-run restaurant and such... very cool! We will be back in the near future.
Thank you!

Start off saying I'm not vegan, but this wasn't too bad! I got the plant based Chicken pho. Broth was good. The plant based chicken was decent. I'm not a fan tofu. And for that, my own bias crept in which impacted the experience. Truthfully though, I give it a 8/10! Should try!

The styrofoam containers ruined it for me...it's 2025, let's do better.

What a rare, scrumptious find! An ALL vegetarian restaurant! Can't believe my eyes(!!), and in Midwest Minnesota, no less! Been dreaming of a vegetarian restaurant? Where you don't have to endlessly research, wonder, guess at ingredients before ordering. This is it!
Their customer service was above and beyond. They even have homemade treats,(yummy vegan jerky!) and seasonal pantry items for purchase. The friendly, effervescent owner, chef, explained, in detail, how to expertly prepare and use the dried mushrooms I purchased. The knowledge, pride, and joy is obvious, with creativity bubbling over to the menu and selections.
Menus are descriptive and easy to read. For non-asian diners unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine, the thorough descriptions make it very pleasurable and exciting to order from the menu.
While it is a small unassuming, strip-mall establishment, looking like most other casual, asian restaurants, with square tables, a service counter, and some asian pictures, lanterns, decor,(the strip mall space is it's own template, can't get around that), it is light, clean, and spacious. It happens to be the ONLY vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant in Minnesota.
Thanh's dishes are 100% vegetarian, and not just accommodating to VEGANS, but actually masterfully inclusive, including a vegan fish sauce. The preparation is beautiful, and portions are gracious. They have more variety of vegan meats than I've ever seen!
Dear carnivores: give their plant meats a try. Any animal you normally eat, they've got a plant meat version- pork, beef, chicken, shrimp,- you name it! (try the jicama ribs). You won't be disappointed! You will just savor delicious Vietnamese cuisine, and will not miss animal flesh. Thanh's is a true pioneer to cruelty free, healthy, yummy, yet kind cuisine of the future.
From the fresh spring rolls, savory dumplings, crusty, spicy bahn mi sandwiches, a variety of rich, steaming pho and noodle soups, combination vermicelli and broken rice platters, they've got something for every palate: salty, savory, sweet, bitter, sour, umami. They even have unique dishes with bitter melon, and mustard greens, you don't see often, if ever, on menus. And, they don't skimp on the healthful produce and wide array of fresh herbs, which has really taken a downturn at other establishments.
Can't praise this place enough!
Wish I lived upstairs, to feed my belly and soul every day;)

Menu was all vegetarian, which was awesome. Usually, there's a handful of choices for vegetarians at restaurants, but here there were so many.
I had the spring rolls and the spicy veggie beef noodle soup. The food portions were very generous. The soup was good, the broth was nice, not too rich, but had good flavor. The noodles had the right bite and the fake meat was tender. The chili oil on the side was smoky, and a really great addition to the meal.
The Spring rolls were good. Each roll had mint, which provided a really nice flavor in conjunction with the meat.

As a vegan Vietnamese, I can honestly say this is the best Vietnamese vegan food I’ve ever had. I’ve traveled to many major cities across the U.S., Canada, and throughout Southeast Asia, and Thanh Luong truly stands out. Minneapolis is very fortunate to have this restaurant.

This is an incredibly special place, ran by some lovely people. Huge menu, most everything I've had on here has either been good to incredible. The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup is one of the most decadent meat-substitute dishes I've ever had, period. Incredibly good phó as well. Give these folks as much business as you possibly can.
