CHAR Craft Steaks at Grand View Lodge

Wow. There’s a new chef in town and the specials are so *special*! Lamb prepared with mint sous vide or duck confit with some sort of miraculous morel side. Jessica, our server, recommended a tasty sparkling wine for our special event. 🥂

Food was really disappointing, my seabass was dry and it didn't taste fresh, my husband's steak Oscar was terribly salted. Salad lacked dressing, we even had to ask for bread. We were constantly asked by the service if we were done with our dishes. So many times, that it felt like we were rushed to finish so they could clear the table and get us out of the door, ironically when the restaurant was almost empty. We were there celebrating our anniversary, and they brought us a courtesy desert that we were very thankful for but it consisted of a tiny dry red velvet cupcake with cool whip on top, like really? I would have honestly preferred to pay for a proper desert, but we were not even offered the option. Once again, they came and brought the check. We expected more on a restaurant on this property and with such high prices. The atmosphere is very nice though. Unfortunately, food and service don't match it.

Fantastic dinner at CHAR Craft Steaks at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. Food and cocktails were excellent, but the highlight was our server, Iryna - she was absolutely outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and made the entire experience top notch. Highly recommend!

Excellent meal! Only complaint was the hollandaise was like jello and was not a sauce. Otherwise everything else was perfection and It's not easy to satisfy my palate. I've eaten some good food in my life time. 😊 It was also our anniversary and we got desert compliments of the restaurant and our server was very sweet!

Was at the Grand View Lodge for a work retreat. My colleagues canceled on me when they saw the prices so I went alone. So glad I did!

I don't mind paying for exceptional food and this surpassed all my expectations. I restrict carbs and visited many steakhouses over the years. This was one of the best and well worth the source splurge (budget and carbs!).

I had no troubles making the reservation or adjusting it as people withdrew from my original number. They were kind and understanding with the changes.

My server was helpful and attentive. Double checked if I wanted bread served and did not neglect my table as some places do when I dine alone.

I had the s'mores martini (sans marshmallow), crab cakes and steak Oscar. All were excellent! They were flavorful and prepared exactly the way I wanted. I enjoyed every bite and left nothing behind (I did refrain from licking the plate 🤭).

I wanted to go again the next night but the retreat was over at 2p and Char didn't open until 5p. Needed to hit the road for the drive home. I'm trying to convince my hubby and friends that we should vacation at the Lodge so I can go back for another meal.

Waited for an hour for simple entrees. Told later that there was a large party so our orders were not prepared. When the bass and chicken arrived, both were greasy and lacking in spices or flavor. If you want an overpriced time-travel back half a century to mediocre mid-American cuisine, this is the place for you.

Amazing place for date night.

We had the ribeye, grilled onions and char salad. Split it and it was plenty for us. Sat by the fire and relaxed well.

It would be over the top if they had a gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free desert. Like a chocolate torte made with coconut cream and honey ;)z

Start of a Review. Making reservations hostess had a mouthful of food. No joke could understand her. Then she said again. It will be 75 person if we bail on the reservation. So di will update as we go. Also had to type my own name and card into the system, they couldn't find us on the reservation that we are staying at.

Update service was fantastic. Food met expectations. My riveted was closer to medium not rare. But was seasoned and tasted phenomenal. As it should

One of the best dinners celebrating a family birthday by the fireplace, server was excellent, knowledgeable and upbeat, great recommendations and service. Our dinners were served piping hot - creative menu and presentations. We look forward to our next visit to Grandview Lodge!

We had one of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time at CHAR Craft Steak. Everything was absolutely incredible from start to finish.
The lobster tails and filet mignon were top notch — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The rolls? Amazing. And the carrot cake was truly to die for — the perfect ending to an already unforgettable meal.
Our server, Quinn, made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Attentive, friendly, and on point the entire night.
We truly cannot wait to come back. Such an amazing dining experience!

We were ice fishing and decided to eat at CHAR Craft Steaks on our last night. I had the ribeye and asparagus, and both were fabulous. When I come back this summer, I will have dinner at CHAR Craft Steaks again.

Great experience for our anniversary. Do not skip the House Cured Gravlax! Possibly the best bite I’ve ever had!

We had an amazing time at char. Everyone is friendly and everyone was enjoying their time. The special was amazing and we loved our food, every bite. Iryna, was our server, and was delightful! She makes you feel like you are at home and are dining with friends. She knows just what everyone needs. We enjoy dining at char every time we go. We look forward to seeing her every time.
