My husband and I come to Rochester every three months. I want to salute a server named Christine. We met her when she worked at Lord Essex in the Kahler. We always look for her. We kept waiting for Lord Essex to reopen and then we found Christine at Salute. We were thrilled. I recommend Christine, ask for her when you go to Salute! You will discover that you will ask for her every time. Dr. Bruce Harmon and wife Mary.

We have been in Rochester at Mayo Clinic for almost a month and walked by Salute at the Mariott hotel on a daily basis . It is billed as a Wine Bar and More. Because we weren't interested in wine bar, we never went in. Last night we discovered that "and more" actually included a dining room with fabulous dinner selections. When we first entered we saw a nearly empty bar and almost walked out again and then saw that the dining room on the right was relatively full and that changed our minds. The meal was excellent- I had the short rib tacos and my husband had the short rib dinner with Risotto. Our server Christine was very attentive and friendly. She told us that the executive Sous Chef had won many local award for his cuisine. We will definitely return because it has a beautiful decor, tables are appropriately separated for conversation and it is quiet. . It was a very enjoyable evening.

Our meals were delicious and our server, Christine, was superb. She was personable, engaging, attentive, and knew just what to recommend!!

Ummm no thank you.The wine list is sad for a wine bar, Ghost Pine as a recommended California wine?! Definitely not, especially not for the price. The steak bites appetizer was a disappointment. While the steak was great at medium rare, it was covered in fried onions, and the ratio was way off. Too many onions, not enough meat, and it was too oily. The patio is nice, but it took the waiter a while to approach, then several wines weren't available.Wouldn't recommend, there are many places that are way better in Rochester.

Have been coming to Mayo for two years now. Salute had the best Calamari in town but now have substituted red bell peppers for pickled Fresno chilies without changing the menu. Too bad now the calamari is no better than anyone else. Vlada the bartender is great. But if you are going to change the recipe at least change the menu.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to dine at when I am in Rochester. I have been here on 4 separate occasions. I have tried various things on the menu and my favorite meal was the 10 oz NY Strip steak that was accompanied by beautiful mashed potatoes and asparagus. The dressing was fantastic. Steak sauce was not needed to add since the steak had so much flavor. It was perfectly done just the way I like it medium rare. Thanks to the Chef, it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time.Rodney was such a pleasure, he served us and the evening was pretty slow. I didn't mind because my friend and I were well taken care of. We both had a glass of Alamos Argentinian Malbec which we enjoyed every single sip. We explained to Rodney how we ran around all day long going to various appointments at Mayo. I was surprised for a Friday night that it was slow. We ate outdoors which was such a treat. We sat at a 4 top table facing Peace Square and people watched. Rodney was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and suggested many items. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer along with short rib tacos and my beautiful steak meal.I rarely ever pass up dessert and I love Crème Brûlée however I passed it up since I couldn't take another bite. This meal was the icing on the cake of our trip to Rochester.

Have been coming to Mayo for two years now, Salute had the best Calamari in townNow they have substituted red bell peppers for pickled Fresno chilies. What a shame the calamari is not what it used to be. And the menu is not updating,so you are expecting pickled Fresno chilies and you get red bell peppers. It's a shame, the employees don't even seem to care anymore. Maybe when Ruth Crist opens in the old Grande Grille location they will sit up and take notice!

It is easy and convent to stay at the Marriott Hotel when you are going to the Mayo Clinic for treatment, but this alone is not an excuse for a very mediocre menu offered at Salute, particular when the clientele can come from all over the US, as well as many other countries. We had their special of the night which was some chicken concoction for which they recommended a glass of Rose to compliment the dish. While chicken was OK, I was amazed when the check came listing a glass of Rose at $28.00, I very much doubt a complete bottle of the stuff cost this much. Lesson learned and I hope who ever reads this review can benefit from this information. Much better choices at 50 meter’s in either direction. Cheers

I really expect better from Marriott. Loyal Marriott customer but the food, service and ambiance of Salute is just substandard.

Great food, class waitress Christine and great presentation. The food was outstanding and Christine was very pleasant and professional. I would highly recommend and request Christine as your waitress as she is definitely a credit to the restaurant industry.

Nice quiet spot connected to the hotel! The service was great, as well as the food! Just had appetizers, but was delicious!

My grouper was overcooked, quite dense and not worthy of eating. I alerted the waiter. He suggested that the chef make me another grouper less cooked. I agreed. The waiter returned to my table saying the the chef has asked me to consider taking the walleye fish instead. I should have walked out. Stunned by the proposition, I agreed. The walleye was small, very thin, breaded=not favorable. The side items were not what were with the grouper=disappointing.
