Chicken curry with Somali green sauce over a basmati-type rice, excellent 👍🏼
The workers here do not speak English. I was unable to order anything.
They got my order wrong, I ordered a veggie bowl and there was chicken in the bowl.
Afro Deli provided 300 sambusas for our school event, and the feedback from our families was overwhelmingly positive. The food was absolutely delicious! The online catering form was user-friendly, making the ordering process a breeze, and the staff went above and beyond to assist us with any questions we had. I can confidently say that we will be choosing Afro Deli for our future events! Their exceptional service and mouthwatering food truly made a difference.
My favorite restaurant in Downtown St Paul. I worked and lived in Downtown for the last year and a half, and Afro Deli is my favorite lunch spot. The employees are very friendly and provide prompt amazing customer service. The food is absolutely phenomenal…especially considering the price and quality of ingredients. Shaving Lamb off as it cooks, and applying good portion sizes too. I’m leaving in a week and will miss this place. If you haven’t tried it I highly suggest doing so.
This restaurant is somewhat overhyped—it’s a very ordinary, typical Chipotle-style establishment. However, don’t get me wrong—Chipotle offers a better selection and tastier menu options overall.
During this visit, I ordered a chapati wrap with French fries and tea. The tea was decent—I’d rate it 8/10.
The chapati wrap was essentially a flatbread filled with pieces of beef, lettuce , and some vegetables. The taste was below average, especially when compared to Chipotle.
That said, the restaurant does have a nice atmosphere, good seating, and solid customer service.
I try to make it to Afro Deli & Grill weekly. They are one of the places that make downtown a pleasure to work in. Everything I've tried on the menu, which is most things, is delicious but my favorite is the chicken curry with rice. The chicken is tender and flavorful, the curry is rich and savory with lots of vegetables and the rice compliments both to make a tasty and satisfying meal. Treat yourself to Afro Deli; your expectations will be surpassed.
We had a large order for an academic conference event. All the attendees raved about how delicious the food was! Also, the Afro Deli staff were very helpful with the catering ordering process.
Went on a Saturday afternoon when I got home there was 2 pieces of chicken in the curry. Tried contacting them twice they never got back. Why anyone would give that to a customer when there closed on Sundays is cheap. Are they saving the food for Monday afternoon. The place sucks

First time trying this place, ordered online to pick up. Food was not very good. Steak sandwich was very tough and chewy, Sambusas were very very dry, fries were soggy, and they didn’t include our baklava, we didn’t check the order til we got home, but we paid for baklava and never got it. Tried to call the restaurant about it and no one answered. Will not be trying this place again.

Large portions of pretty marginal food in a bummer environment. In summer you can access the outdoor seating through the front door (not the busted door, the other one) and enjoy a view of piles of supply boxes from the other unit that they didn't bother to paper over, while you avoid the wasps. The staff were working hard, veggies were fresh, and the salad was good. But the big portions don't help if what you're getting isn't tasty. Sauces didn't have much flavor and were very sweet. Even the pop/soda/coke machine has the mix wrong, all fizz. Overall pretty regrettable meal.
Vegetarian options: Generous portions but the flavors are smothered in sweet sauces. Veggie curry and veggie fantastic were both not good. Fries were fine. The quesadilla another guy ordered looked better and would probably feed 3.

The way they handle vegetarian food with the same gloves that they handle meat with is disgusting. They also don't seem to listen when I asked them to change their gloves when handling my food.

Ordered my food and went to wash my hands. The was a roach crawling up the door, and a few baby roaches dead on the sink. I was so disgusted I immediately cancelled my order and got a refund.
It’s okay. Nothing special to me.
