I usually get to Dunn Bros. on Saturday mornings to get a cup of French Java or another dark roast. The building is old, but has character. Art for sale on walls, cafe table, chairs, an old stage, and even a coffee bean roaster in the corner to admire. The locals are always there chatting, studying, or killing time. The workers are always smiling, friendly, quick to assist, and get the orders right. The place gets its fair share of interesting people though and that can make for some entertainment.

One of the world’s classic coffee dives. By some miracle the employees have managed to remain young from 2000 when I worked across the street at Macalester College and stopped there for my bracing morning Joe. Place looks exactly the same as well. They must store that olive green paint in an underground salt dome for touch-ups as needed. Somehow Dunn’s number 1 store manages always to have credible if highly fattening pastries as good as or better than that which can be found anywhere in the Greater Saint Paul Metropolitan Area (GSPMA … it’s a thing). No photos to add. Do you remember how the place looked last time you were there 15 years ago? It looks like that.Parking: Not an area of town in which to operate a motor vehicle. Take the bus!Wheelchair accessibility: Good luck even though the place is all on one level
