Hidden neighborhood gem! I only rated it a four because parking is difficult. The food is great and the staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Prices are fair and portions are generous.Deciding what to order was difficult. So many great choices. My boyfriend chose the biscuits and gravy (his usual for breakfast) and said it was the best he’s had. The sausage had a little bite (spicy) but it was perfect.I opted for blueberry pancakes, which were delicious! The three pancakes were bigger than the dinner plate—I had leftovers! We will definitely return.

If you only have one place you're eating in Saint Paul while you're here, you need to stop and eat at your Neighborhood Cafe. Family-owned, and all Minnesota vibes.Greeted right away, and when the host realized there was an open table she seated us right away. The server was prompt to take our orders and to bring our drinks. The first thing I noticed when our food arrived was the single loose hair highly visible on top of my Cajun.I pointed that out and the waiter apologized right away and fixed the issue. That being said, these things happen, I worked in the restaurant industry for half my life. A pro tip to anyone who dislikes hair nets. Before your shift, trim up and then shower to make sure you get all the loose hairs off your body. The Cajun was amazing! Eggs were prefect, hashbrowns were crisp and light, sausage was surprisingly great with a kick, and the veggies and holiday sauce ?.The plates were cleared as fast as we were finished. The waiter asked if he could comp my meal because of the hair.TL;DRFabulous food, excellent service, worth every penny. If you have only one place you're going to eat during your time in the twin cities, you need to stop here.Visit #2Well, the wait was not enjoyable, but dang those cinnamon-swirled pancakes are totally worth it.Parking: Busy location, might be difficult.

The Neighborhood Cafe is a gem; the staff are always incredibly friendly & helpful & the food is delicious! Every time we've gone there's been a wait, which is 100% worth it & only speaks to how tasty & popular this spot is. The menu has a nice variety without being 60 pages long (like some diners tend to get). There are breakfast classics, TexMex options, & lunch items, along with tasty alcoholic & N/A drink options. Today I had The Cajun Breakfast: "crispy hashbrowns with grilled green pepper, mushrooms, onion, (I had mine without) Andouille Sausage, topped with cheddar cheese, two over-easy eggs, homemade hollandaise sauce and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper", served with toast. The hollandaise was some of the best I've had, hashbrowns were crispy, & I loved the addition of the veggies. This was like a breakfast hash but improved! My husband ordered the Carnitas Breakfast Burrito: citrus marinated pulled pork with scrambled eggs, pepperjack cheese, refried black beans. We were both impressed with the size of the serving; it was a good amount of food without being overkill. Another fun aspect is that they have a TON of different hot sauces! In all, the coffee is tasty, food is delicious, & prices can't be beat! The only downside is parking; it can be difficult to park right in front of the restaurant, but there are plenty of spots on the side street down Selby.

A very good diner. Staff was very kind and attentive. Food was good and was very much classic diner food - which I love. I think I found a regular spot for breakfast. Wait wasn’t too long either.

Great food- love that they serve breakfast all hours. Had an omelet that came with 3 ingredient choices - often you only get two and they had a decent quantity of each item. Served with toast and hashbrowns- I got fruit instead of the hashbrowns. All the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic. Smaller place but was able to get seated on a Saturday at noon within 20 minutes. Super friendly staff. Cute place - love neighborhood spots! Can't wait to try other items. Parking is challenging.

Met up with a friend for breakfast on a Sunday morning and while I thought it might be packed, around 10 we had no issues getting a spot. This really is a neighborhood cafe lol the one with the worn booths and friendly servers. If you're looking for fancy, keep looking. If you're looking for delicious food, you're in the right spot! I did a BYO omelet with sausage, onion and smoked Gouda. I went with hash -browns (added cheese) and sourdough toast. Of course I topped it off with a couple mimosas as well. The food was good, I felt like the Gouda was a little over powering but I ate almost all of it. I would probably switch out the cheese. Everything else was tasty and well priced. They didn't mind us drinking and occupying our booth for almost two hours which was a plus. I had a great time here and I'll be returning if I'm in the area again.
