This was well rated in the airport, I was close by so I stopped in to check out their chicken. Overall it was an "ok" experience. I do think this place is close to getting to all-star / great if a few tweaks were applied. So the ordering process is via a large kiosk screen. A guy came out of the kitchen to help me and I appreciated his insight. He told me the most popular items. I ended up getting the tenders - the spicy rub and some other glazed one. I skipped the sides. I also got the Caribbean Chicken Sandwich for the guy who worked nearby and recommended this place. And per the pics - it looked really good. So the tenders were really good quality and large too. The breading was very good and crispy. Great scores on that. But the seasonings and dip sauces were lacking and could use some improvement. Believe it or not the 14 spice rub wasn't that spicy, and it was quite bland, I was picturing more robustness in it. I think there's less salt applied - which is great because many places put too much salt in their seasonings and it's not good. I think if we just improve the seasoning to make it a little more robust - and I mean it lives up to the name of 14-spice rub - then we gots a home run. The other tender order had spicy sauce on it but they didn't put enough sauce on it so I wasn't pleased about that - but it did taste better. I was really disappointed in the sauces. The ranch and jerk tastes like it comes out of a plastic jug. I was envisioning better taste, better quality, but I did not get that at all with their sauces. A big letdown here. Just an FYI - - the best ranch I've experienced (believe it or not) so far has been Chili's. Yup. That surprised me. So overall it was okay, just tweak the spicing, the execution, and improve the sauce quality / taste - - and we got a home run here. Or you can just bring your own ranch and have a go at it.

Only 10 reviews!?!?! Just had some sweet potatoes fries and a Jerk Chicken sandwich. By far the best sandwich I've had in a second and even for an airport the price was reasonable. I'll be sure to return next week when I'm in town!

Food is way overpriced but this is in an airport. $5.50 for two biscuits is above reasonable The lady behind the counter could not understand my Midwest accent. I just have a hard time trying to order and then having to correct her and then paying for things that I did not order because she did not understand. Even though the biscuits are expensive, they really are not very good at all. There is a reason there is no line to order at this place.

Egg Samwich-waited 15 minutes for a soggy biscuit. Makes for an impossible sandwich to eat with hands. Components tasted fine on their own but execution is flawed. Time to check in on them Justin.

I am blown away by this meal! Simple and on point. Easily the best airport food I've had in years! The Tennesee Hot Chicken Sammiche was one the best, if not the best hot chicken I've ever had. Perfectly cooked smothered in sauce w/ tomato, Cole slaw and pickles. Friendly and speedy service. It's an airport restaurant but atmosphere, seating, music and location were all just right. I am so glad I stopped.

The Soul is the perfect chicken sandwich. The best I’ve ever had. The chicken is thick and juicy. The breading and seasoning are perfection and the pickles are an excellent compliment. There is nothing skimpy about this sandwich. This will be my new go to every time I’m At the airport. Great job Justin!

$20 for a sandwich some fries and a drink & it took 15+ minutes to get my order... they have a very limited selection of sauces for the sandwiches/tenders and the breading immediately falls off. Was expecting it to be better than chik-fil-a but it was worse than BK.

This place is an oasis! The chicken bacon ranch sandwich was substantially delicious. Definitely the best taste and maybe the best value in the whole airport! The cherry on top were the employees. They were very friendly and helped many customers figure out the ordering kiosks.

American airports aren't really known for good, affordable, and filling Airport food. After Northern Soul, I've changed my mind. This place is so good I forgot this was the airport. Located between Gates D and E, Northern Soul serves casual chicken sandwiches at a price that I find comparable to small business restaurants. What's crazy is that the prices are comparable to ones you'd find of a quality chicken sandwich outside the airport nowadays in the US. Not only that it was probably one of my favorites that I've had, and I've been all over. So I ordered the Nashville Sandwich (Not to be confused with the hot chicken one that's hyped up) and sweet potato fries, both are definitely was up there with being so good. Now it was buttery, juicy, and had some extremely tender thigh meat as it's best part. The slaw was perfectly good, and the only people that may not like it are people that don't like it too buttery or they only use to-gp packaging whether you sit down or takeout but that doesn't bother me at all. 4.5/5 Sweet potato fries were hot, extra crispy, and would get again. 4.5/5 Service: you order on a tablet and pickup the order when your number is called, so most of it was automatic, although there is an option to order manually with a cashier. Can't really rate this but I think they overestimate the time it takes to get your food (mine came out in less than 5 minutes when the receipt said 15). Really fast service. The ambience is standard upscale fast food, I think the only thing that makes it more casual is like I said, the paper containers of the food. Overall, excellent spot in MSP. Would recommend before your next flight.

Location: Terminal 1. Take a left after leaving Security, walk past Chili's and the Food Court. It's on the right (across from Hudson News). Order at a kiosk and they call your name when ready. Table and Bar height tables provide seating for about 36 people. Side: Mac & Cheese ($5.50). Delicate hints of spicy heat mixed with creamy cheese and spiral noodles. Recommended! Sandwich: Tennessee Hot "Sammiche" ($13.50). Large, perfectly fried chicken breast, that is juicy bursting and a decent amount of spice. You'll need to open wide to take a bite! Shredded lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes provide different food textures and complement the spices. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Service: Order at a kiosk, wait for your name to called. Took about 12 minutes. Ambiance: Small seating area, and it is clean. Overall: It's rare to find unique food, at the airport, that is affordable and delicious. Northern Soul is a perfect substitute for fast food and chain restaurants. This place will be my "go to" whenever I want to eat at MSP airport. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
