Overall the food was okay, but the service was so inconsistent we will not return.
I understand they were understaffed on the evening we came, however service overall seemed inattentive and unhurried despite several tables needing service.
Our server took so long to reach our table we ordered food and drink at the same time. We received one of our small appetizers (edamame) some 10 minutes after ordering and before even getting any drinks besides water.
It took close to an hour for the remainder of dishes to be served, with the exception of a small sushi order that was completely forgotten and came 15 minutes after all other food was already consumed.
The final straw was the sushi was quite undersided for the standard servings and extremely disappointing. You get twice the size at discount and grocery store sushi places.
Will not come here again
Food took an hour an a half. Felt bad for the door dasher guys waiting - prob ruined their whole night. Wouldn’t get delivery from there.

This is the second time that I have been here celebrating a birthday. I recommend this place highly and I am not a sushi person. I had a bento box for lunch and it was good and priced right. Great atmosphere and the service was great. Stop in it's a pleasant place.
Went in with a group of girls, the blonde girl server was very slow. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, we didn’t get our appetizers for 40 minutes. She forgot to ring in my meal and by the time I got my food everyone else had finished their food and they were waiting for me. I waited around 30 min for my food after everyone else got theirs. She never gave us refills and we were sitting on the patio in the heat. I ordered a side of sauce she forgot about and then when she dropped it off at the table she spilled it all over me. I understand mistakes happened but it was a full night of things going wrong with really ruined the experience. She never apologized or seemed sorry for anything. On top of that we were forced a gratuity on the bill, I don’t think that’s okay when we had horrible service to be forced to pay a full tip.

This place is mosly fine, with a few quirks. It's good enough I'll go back, but if I were not in this part of town, I wouldn't go out of my way to get there. Firstly, I don't eat seafood so that severely limits my menu options. So I ordered the vegetables tempura. They were fine, a bit al dente, and my friend got the shrimp tempura as her appi and got a battered onion - how come I couldn't get onion on mine? - that's the #1 best thing to batter and fry! There was sweet potato in mine which I don't eat - I'd have gladly traded that out. We are scheduled to go again, since it's my friends favorite place, so I'll probably branch out at that time. The other quirky thing was the table itself - the supporting bar is right on the aisle and difficult to get your feet past. Pretty awkward, especially for anyone with any injury or other hinderance. It's most redeeming quality was that the server was attentive and not overbearing. He was sweet and seemed to really be interested that we have a nice experience. Also the iced tea was regular average iced tea - good, nothing to write home about.... after we went again, I'm taking away a star - I had the beef lo mein which was bland as heck & left most of it. My friends split some sort of seafood pot where all the seaood was terribly overcooked. They took it home for the dog. Not good.

My favorite sushi place in the Twin Cities! This honestly blows all the others out of the water - I’m ALWAYS happy with my roll, no matter what I get. And it’s always beautifully presented! Way better than other, overhyped places that cost an arm and a leg.

Friday night... its busy... but we were seated near host station. Noisy, and seemed to be forgotten about. Waitress forgot to put in partbof our order. Took 20 minutes for it to arrive.
I dont recommend Sakana on a Friday night.

We've been looking for someplace to eat near the airport that isn't bar food or chain fast food. This place was great. I had the chicken in balsamic teriyaki. The takeout containers kept the chicken, veggies, and rice separate from the sauce. Nice. Veggies were done to perfection. My wife had sushi and said it was the best tuna she's had.
