Sadly, this is possibly the first time in 30 years of visiting Cafe Napoli in Clayton where I have been dissatisfied and disappointed. The food was not hot enough for at least two entrees. The food was tasty, just that is was served lukewarm. We were seated in the bar area. It was 7:15pm and very, very loud to the point that we could not understand the server's descriptions of off-menu items and specials.
The service at Napoli is always outstanding. Our app, toasted ravs are always yummy. I had the Napoli salad which was quite good. I had the shrimp linguine (had them hold the clams). It was very spicy (not mentioned on the menu) but other than that there was NO flavor and no matter how much salt I put on it didn't help. It was very disappointing but they did not skimp on the shrimp which I appreciated. My dining partner ordered the chicken piccata but they brought her chicken...
The service and attentiveness of the staff was fantastic. We started with arancini and meatballs. Both were great. For mains we had a filet with lobster risotto, chicken parm, and a seafood pasta dish. All highly recommended. Will definitely come back!
