Definitely missed the mark. There were like 8 people in the dining room and waitress disappeared. We would have ordered at least $50 more food and wine. Everything was great until our food was delivered, and the waitress never came back…
Nice place to eat, one vegan option on the lunch menu, no vegan options on the dinner menue.
I've been going here for years, and it's normally one of my favorite places to eat. I made reservations for 4:45 and was sat promptly. The host was friendly and welcoming, and I had a choice of where I preferred to sit.
Potato Pancakes were ordered for the appetizer, as well as the French Onion soup. Entrees were ordered, and the potato pancakes and soup were brought out first.
By 5:40, the main courses hadn't been served. Highly unusual for this restaurant, but it was a highly unusual night. The place was slammed! I have never seen so many people come into this restaurant without reservations and promptly get turned away. Must have been around 100 people, and I'm actually afraid I'm underestimating.
My entree was brought out, and it was luke-warm. My Jager sauce was congealed, so i knew it'd been sitting for a while. I asked what was going on, and was told that there was a dinner rush, and the restaurant was under staffed. Okay, I can understand these issues, but, I made reservations in advance so things like this won't necessarily happen.
I was given a discount on my entree, which was very generous.
Wait time and customer service notwithstanding, something is off with this place since the COVID days. The menu downsized considerably, which I'm used to now, but the food is bland. It doesn't pop like it used to, and just all blends into one.
Even the Sherry in the soup wasn't up to normal standards.
Delicious from beginning to end!
Service and atmosphere is good, however the food is just OK, potato pancakes are basically hash browns and the potato salad is just OK, you cant really screw up breaded pork and gravy so they get a pass. However the prices reflect a better product than delivered. So this is 3 stars for my experience.
BEST French onion soup I've ever had!!!!! l get it every time we go there .we live in Hermann so we go fairly often .Cute little German resturant!! My wife always gets the ruban... I'm not a big fan of rubans...but that one is pretty good!!

It was their last day of being open for the holidays. Their prices were a little high i thought.

Came here for the first time and loved it. I had the German Trio (pictured) and my wife had the Chicken Spatzel. We shared a bottle of Chardonel and a bread pudding for dessert. The food was top-notch, with some standouts including the house balsamic vinaigrette on the salads, the fork-tender beef saurebraten, the utterly delightful bread pudding and the bratwurst, but everything was outstanding. I will certainly come back again for that German Trio, as you cant get this authentic German food in Saint Louis where we live. I can't tell you how the rolls were as our server forgot to bring them, but except for that one little issue she was friendly, helpful and attentive enough without being overbearing. The wine isn't terribly expensive and tasted great but I was surprised to see that when you buy a bottle they plunk down two glasses and the bottle and it's on you to pour- not a problem for me at all, but in my years in upscale dining that's not how we presented wine and the informality of it surprised me a bit at a winery. As I said, not a problem for me but I was surprised.
This was an outstanding getaway in a charming converted stable, a really different dining experience that was memorable and delicious. The missing points in my rating are from the missing rolls and the bathroom which was very clean except for a really rancid smell that was clearly coming from the old urinal screen. Other than that, it was fantastic and I'd come again any time I'm nearby, recommend it to friends. And I'll probably occasionally make the hour and fifteen minute drive to indulge in great food in a neat spot.

We had a great dining experience Oct14th. Food was very good and Heidi our server could not have been better, she was very friendly and knowledgeable, checked on us just the right amount.
The manager stopped to check on us and the other tables. Very nice evening.
Highly recommend

We went at the beginning of Octoberfest before all the crowds showed up.
Plenty of parking.
Walked right in and were seated in a booth big enough to hold 10.
Ordering was fairly easy as they only have a few selections. Those are pre matched with wine pairing and they were delicious.
Basically potatoes, sausage or pork, and sauerkraut. We ordered different plates so we could try more options and everything was very flavorful but also paired well with the recommended 🍷.
Service was fast, accurate, and easy going. Our wines stayed filled to match our courses.
It looks like the place was an old horse barn and each booth was a stall. But that was a long time ago and now it's just very rustic and makes you feel very comfy.

Pro tip. Order the onion soup, very flavorful, warm melt cheese and order the matching wine. Whoa what a combo. And try to save room for a dessert and a port wine, you can thank us later😁

We were there on Columbus Day at lunch with the establishment being half filled. Service was pleasant but very slow and inattentive. Food was warm and tasted great with my only knock being serving size. Jaeger sauce was particularly good.
