Lucy’s Ensenada Mexican Restaurant

I ordered a margarita and the sampler. It was a hard and soft taco with a tamale and chicken enchilada plus rice and beans. The food was lukewarm and the salsa was runny. The flavor was not bad, but just seemed very low effort. Dipping chips in the watery salsa was not good. Margarita was really good though. Had a 2nd one to make up for the food.

I was hoping to try out Lucy's tonight for the $1 Taco night. After showing up, I was informed that this was a dine-in only promotion (this was no where in the ad) and they wouldn't be offering this as a carry-out option. I found this to be an extremely strange way to turn down business that they were clearly trying to promote. Given that they don't understand this very key principle of running a business (that you don't turn down sales), I don't think I'll be giving Lucy's a try in the future. I certainly don't wish ill-will on any business, but I'm afraid actions like these will ultimately lead to another restaurant closure here in Joplin.

First time ever eating here absolutely amazing. Everything fresh and made from scratch in house would highly recommend to any that enjoy authentic Mexican food me and my wife will be back

Previously, my first visit, they were closed during posted hours open.

This was my second visit. Food: blan, not much flavor

Looked at Lunch Buffet was cold and old servings. I chose off the menu. My lunch plate was disappointing.

I won't be returning

Taco Bell would be a better choice.
If you want to break off a relationship this is the go to spot.

Ordered molcajete and a side of birria consome and it was delicious either way a tamarindo drink that was fresh and natural. Everything was so flavorful 👌🏻

I've been frequenting lucys for years. We have many options in Joplin but they rank at the top. Love their enchiladas and huevos rancheros.

I got lucky enough to stop by Lucy's for a late lunch/early dinner & I was treated to an amazing meal, great service & conversation. Miss Karen (yes, that Miss Karen from the menu!), greeted me with a smile warm chips & then I let her decide what her to go cheese dip or guacamole, she chose the guacamole & it was wonderful. Now I've had molcajete at lots of Mexican restaurants from Grove to KC. They all seem to be completely covered in cheese sauce, but not at Lucy's! They lay there's out differently & in a refreshingly attractive presentation & way to eat! Suffice to say I was overly pleased to have such wonderful food & cannot wait to return!

Ate here not long ago. Had the lunch buffet and ordered off the menu. Didn’t get an item I ordered off the menu and there was black stuff floating around my tea my food had no flavor. Didn’t even get chips and salsa. I thought that was like an automatic thing eating at a Mexican restaurant but I guess not here. Hate to be that person but I won’t be returning. I hope you get better in the future but I think that’ll take new staff.

The service was really good, not to mention the food. The food was truly amazing. The atmosphere was very good and the bird on the ceiling is cute. Their salsa is also pretty good.

Food wasn’t even warm. Service was terrible. Never got any chips and salsa until after they brought the food out. Very disappointed in the experience. Had to ask for stuff multiple times before they brought it out. Only two other families were in there so they weren’t busy.

Authentic Mexican Food!!! Amazing family owned and family run! The food is tasty and comes out hot! We go at least once a week!!!

Female worker was mouthy and the food is inedible, including tiny portions. Gross.

Stopped in for the Buffett. The food was cold and of poor quality. The Buffett was nearly empty at 11:30am. There was no attempt to refill any of the food items in the buffett at any time when we were there. Really cannot recommend this cafe.
