This is probably the best sandwich in KC. I sometimes drive 40 miles just to get one. I also recommend the meatballs, hot capicola and fresh mozzarella from the deli.
Spectacular service. Great store for these Italians!

Everytime I come into town, I come here to restock on noodles, beer, oil and mortadella! This is the most authentic place for Italian food!! Miss this store!

Chicken parm sandwich was good, I wish it had more sauce and really liked the grated cheese. They can handle small groups with ease. $8.95 isnt a bad price either.
Amazing place for italian food lovers. My son and I came twice for lunch. The staff even remember us. Italians delights here are so tasteful.

absolutely delicious Sicilian pizza! I love this place
Tried the Italian sausage, smelled great while frying, but put off alot of water and lost any flavor. Large store with lots of Italian staples. Most of the meat case Salami's etc were Armour and Volpi etc. Was hoping for more homemade lunch meats.

Very cool Italian grocery that has a deli where you can order sandwiches. My Italian sandwich was perfectly sized and balanced. The bread was chewy and the toppings were just the right amount. I wish I was hungry enough for another that day but will definitely be back to try one of the hot sandwiches I saw many people enjoying.

There is something about Carollo’s on a weekend that just hits different. Yes, the line can get long, but that’s part of the magicif you ask me. Being able to watch the staff move w/ that high energy, cranking out subs while you take in the market vibe. For a split second, the atmosphere makes me completely forget I’m even in Kansas City.
The food is a 10/10 every single time. I usually go for the Meatball Sub or the Siciliano, & the portions are absolutely huge for the price. You can’t leave w/o a cannoli or some tiramisu! It’s the perfect authentic finish. Between the immaculate service & those delicious sandwiches, it’s easily one of my favorite spots in the city. If you want a real Italian deli experience, then this is the only place to go.

The sandwiches are fantastic. You can tell the deli meat is high quality. My only tiny gripe would be the bread is a little hard for my liking but it tastes good. And I keep going back for more so it’s not really that significant.

Just coming off a trip to Italy, maybe my expectations were too high. I've been to Carollo's some years ago and enjoyed it back then.
The pros: Nice bakery, deli and grocery options. The Italian Beef sandwhich was tasty and the bread was fantastic. Even driving back home, the bread never became soggy. We also love the grocery options and bought several things.
The cons: Gal at the front counter wasn't/isn't customer friendly and there were only a few patrons in the store. My biggest gripe has to do with consumer pricing. A digital menu showed $7.95, yet my sandwhich was $10.95. It is worth it at the higher price, but it felt like bait and switch. (Only thing included was a tiny bag of chips that I would prefer to skip)
Sadly, the limencello cake was out. The Napoleon was dry and mostly without flavor (for the price). The Cannoli and other cookies were really nice though. While barely a 4 star visit this time, I still plan to go back more frequently. That's how much we like and appreciate Carollo's.
