Imagine the coffee version of the old television show, Cheers. But really, Matt knows my name, my drink, if I'm trying to refrain from sugar, if I order something uncharacteristic of myself, and if I've missed a Monday visit. Chuck also knows my name and drink and is ready with a smile and always kindness. The coffee is absolutely amazing. I'm not an iced coffee gal, but wow!! Iced, the flavor is even more amazing when I order that!! I also love the smell of the freshly roasting coffee beans (on site)!!! I rarely have had the food, but when I did, it was great too! If only pop tarts didn't have calories!!! Mondays are tough for me and some difficulties in life bring me to the downtown area for therapy appointments. The first place I go after that emotional work is to City Market Coffee. And the kindness Matt shows me time after time always bolsters my spirit and helps me to smile again. How blessed am I to be seen and to be known, something hurting people so desperately need and benefit from. I'm very grateful to be writing this review and letting all who read it know this is a special place to visit. I also love, love, love the bird lamp!!! Pretty unique piece!!! Thank you for serving up the best coffee ever in an atmosphere of love! :-) Come enjoy the coffee, the company, and then go for a nice walk on the nearby trail along the river! You won't regret it!

Edit: I stopped in again. I got their iced pistachio latte (seasonal) and it was so delicious. I liked it better than the chai I had had before.
Original review: My husband and I stopped in for drinks recently. I got a hot chai and it was pretty good. I wish it had had a little more depth of flavor, but it was wonderfully hot. It tasted like a pre-mix (compared to housemade chai that I get at another place that is divine).
It looks like they expanded into the neighboring shop, and there’s a beautiful mural on the wall. It wasn’t busy when we went, but I have seen this place packed to the rafters, especially on the weekends during the farmer’s market.

Matt and Roger absolutely kill it at City Market Coffee. The food is incredible — the bacon egg and cheese on the everything bagel is one of my go-to’s, and the mushroom biscuits and gravy are insanely good. Honestly, I haven’t had one bad thing to eat or drink here.
Matt always greets me every morning when I come in for coffee and makes the place feel welcoming and comfortable every single time.
Appreciate you guys a ton. Keep up the awesome work.

The inside had an industrial vibe since it had exposed brick walls and concrete ceilings which felt like an industrial loft that is now trending. The banana fluff coffee was good since it's not too sweet. I might go back when I'm in the area again to try more things on the menu.

cashier was very patient with my questions, grilled cheese was to die for, and the owner fixed my coffee up herself when it didn't come out quite as expected. how's that for service?
Stopped in here quickly on Easter morning to grab a breakfast club before we headed to the airport back east. Liked the overall vibe of the place and would definitely go back if/when we come back to KC.
The sandwich was excellent. The horseradish added on this was fabulous.
Service was nice. People were friendly.

Love the coffee and the breakfast sandwich. I buy a bag of coffee beans and they even grind them down for me. This is the best coffee I've had in Kansas city. The breakfast sandwich is so good, fluffy fresh eggs and you can even get turkey sausage
