Pass on this. Small portions.. they try to fill you up with bread. Sauce is disgusting.. taste like spaghetti sauce and way too spicy. Didn't even ask if I wanted it, just doused my food in it. I'm allergic to onions and pretty sure it was in the sauce and now I'm feeling sick. Meat is pretty much lunch meat you can buy at your local walmart.

In town and was recommmeded this place. I must say, I was absolutely disappointed. I made the mistake of going in at 9PM. My wings were super dry and hard and the pork ends weren't very good. The service was extremely slow as well. Will try another place while in town and will definitely not recommend this establishment to anyone.
First time in Kansas City and this place is A1! Really appreciate the great food and hospitality!

Had a turkey Nooner and it barely had any beef on it, also the fries didnt come close to filling the plate. Not much food for the price. Very disappointed!! They were preparing a big to go order of sandwiches right before preparing my order. Distracted, or just didnt care?

Let me start by saying that I had read some reviews about the service being terrible and that the people here were rude. It made me a bit hesitant, but I still wanted to try the food. When we got there yesterday, a woman was on her way out of the establishment yelling that the staff were racist and treated her terribly. I walked in with a blank slate because I didn't want anyone else's opinions to dictate my experience. I will say that the staff are straightforward and they're not going to treat you like you're special, but they were nice and patient with us and treated us like everyone else. I actually liked the experience. It didn't feel fake or pandering. The customers in line were so nice and helped us and we were laughing and having a good time.The food: I got a beef on bun with fries and the hot seasoning. Both the fries and beef on bun were incredible. The meat was smoky and tender and I loved the sauce. Not too much, not too little. The fries were thick cut and cooked to perfection. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The seasoning was amazing. It had a hint of Cinnamon or nutmeg which I enjoyed very much. Not too spicy, just spicy enough. Salty and savory and it had a great flavor profile. We dined in and we were the only ones in the dining area. It had a very cool, swanky sort of prohibition vibe. The fans were all on pulleys which I thought was a very unique and interesting touch. Overall, a great experience.

I ordered the center cut ribs which were very good! My friend ordered their burger which only had a patty, pickles, and sauce. He said it wasn't the best. The service was just a little different than what I was used to but it was new and fun. It was a neat old building too, I think it would make a good movie set or something. It was a vibe

I was there early April to visit the World War I Museum with 4 other guys. I was treating all for dinner and beers. You had to order the beers at the bar on a separate ticket. We each had 2 beers for a total of $55. i gave the girl at the bar my credit card, and a few minutes later she came back and said they didn't take credit cards. So I gave her $75 in cash. When I got home, my wife noticed there were 2 charges to Gates BBQ, one of which was for $55. So obviously the girl behind the bar stole $75 from me. I called the corporate office, talked to 2 different people. The last that I talked asked me if I had a receipt for the $75. Of course I don't, when you steal something you normally don't leave a receipt. They never called me back. Don't go to this place, because obviously they hire thieves and steal your money, and most likely keep their job
I grew up in Topeka, and every Friday my dad would get paid and we would go to Kansas City landing mall JC Penney outlet , and we would end the night with Gate's and sons, I moved to Florida in 2001 I've traveled the country and nobody and some of the world Texas,Georgia, Tennessee, Argentina, Brazil, nobody does it quite like the town, however it's with an extremely heavy heart to say what I'm going to say. Sunday I few in to visit my father who had a stroke I really needed so comfort food so I went to gates on Brooklyn ordered some burnt ends and I was highly disappointed nobody yelled at me the food was cold and it didn't taste the way was I remember it , I thought I was being overly critical however I learned that I was not alone a lot of people felt the same , Gates has forgotten where they came from they need to Go back to what made you great go back to your Root you are an Institution

Really good food but really complicated to order lol. Lots of chaos at the counter. Some employees seem very nice especially the lady in the dining area assisting with any customer needs. Staff at counter seemed like a mix of friendly and sassy but in a sort of entertaining kind of way. Very fast paced place. I'll definitely go back. Very good value and quality.
