Hong's Buffet & Mongolian Grille

Great food and great price. Never had an issue here in the years I’ve been going. Sad to say they are closing after 17 years.

Food was typical Chinese buffet food and a limited Mongolian grill part. The Mongolian grill was decent but more meat options such as lamb would be a good addition. The decor was old and drab. The seats were brown, the carpet was brown, the tables, decorations and walls were brown in color. I think this may have been original decor. This made it dark inside while eating. Then what I’m guessing was the owner shocked me the most. After I did not tip on the receipt after telling her if I have cash we will tip at the table. She hung around waiting for my family to leave to check the tip we left. Because we had discovered we didn’t have cash on us as we were visiting Kansas City and it was at the hotel she followed us out to tell us no tip and told her why and apologized and in front of customers straight up told me I was a liar. Lady of your business is going that bad you are needing tips to survive then I’d close the place. Treating new customers this way isn’t the way to go about generating business

Kid-friendliness: No kids meal but have kids pricing for the buffet. 7-9 is $8.99 and 10-12 is $9.99

We arrived at 7pm on a Tuesday evening. Couple of items were cooled off by the time I sat down. I question whether they were old or not kept at the proper temperature. I've had buffets with more choices available. They had some very large prawn that was delicious. We'll go back but not our favorite Chinese buffet.

Researched this place prior to going and saw sushi was on their buffet so we went specifically for that. Got there, NO sushi. The rest of the dishes on the buffet were just ok but bland. Tried the grill for a seafood stir fry and half the shrimp were not cooked all the way through. They need to remove the pics of sushi if they no longer do this or if it's only during certain days/times that needs clarified.

Hmmm...we ate. Each of the 3 bites of General chicken had good flavor but took about 3 minutes to chew. Quality and flavor of food was definitely lacking. We were very disappointed and will not go back.

I had to hibachi first and it was absolutely the best I have ever had hands down. I went for a second plate of buffet food and I was so let down when I tasted the food after having the hibachi. The hibachi set a really high bar for the rest of the food and it was really a bummer to find out the buffet food wasn't very good. I would definitely come back just it would be just for the hibachi.

Food was excellent & the service was great- only reason for 4 stars was because at check out while paying the cashier asked me was I going to give a tip, I always give a tip wherever I go but just thought it was rude for her to ask me.

Food was terrible. Everything on that Buffett was NOT warm. Food was very hard & tuff as though it had been overcooked and signs of reheated day old food. Steamed Rice and Fried Rice was hard. Plates stacked up on the Table not taken away and my wife had to wave to get someone's attention as they stood there playing, texting on their phones.After I handed my Wife my Debit Card to pay, the cashier had the Freakin NERVE to ask my wife why no Tip on the Receipt. You don't ask customers "Why no Tip". I had already had our daughter put a Tip on the Table.Stop hiring people because they're cheap labor that don't know how to cook Authentic Asian Food.My wife and daughter reported to me upon leaving that two different Toilets were clogged up with TP.

Have been going to this place ever since we moved to Kansas City. Always a good selection, love to get the Mongolian Grill.

Food is always great but today is the second time I've been here and the waitress asked me if I was going to leave her a tip. I always pay with card but tip with cash so they don't have to pay taxes on it. So about 5 minutes after I pay, she brings my receipt back to me and shows me that I didn't tip. I told her that was right. She said "oh, you tip with cash?" I said "I was, but you don't ask for a tip. That's inappropriate." She laughs like it's funny. Needless to say, I am not tipping her and probably won't be back.

To start the place was not very well lite outside or inside. The food was okay but there was not a big selection. It was over priced for having a poor small selection of food. It cost $60.00 for three people which was not worth it. Also the staff asked about their tip when we paid, not okay. As the staff you need to earn your tip. The staff only brought us our drinks. They never cleared our plates, refill our drinks, or ask if everything was okay . Not okay, I as a customer expect all of what I said earlier in the sentence before this one if you want a tip. A tip is not giving, but earned by the kind of service you give

Came here for a Daddy Daughter date. The food was ok, I enjoyed the Mongolian grille the most. My daughter liked the Crab Rangoon. The server topped my water twice. She brought out the check, took our plates and silverware even though we weren’t finished. Then begged me to tip her as I paid. I gave her a tip and she stared at me with an attitude .

I like the magnolian grill and that everything was fresh and the staff was AWESOME. The egg rolls and spring rolls were great. Would go back if ever through.
