So I'm visiting KC and my friends and I wanted Mexican food. This place is in walking distance so we went not expecting anything other then normal American Mexican food. BUT it was not!! The owner was very informative and charismatic when talking about his food and it inspired me to order the Pork Special! Some of the BEST food I've ever had, especially authentic Mexican food! I wish I lived closer so I could go back more often. Will definitely stop by next time I'm in town!
Also the margaritas were to die for!! Worth the price, which is honestly fair for how much food you get!

My son and I were in town and stopped in for some bonding time and a meal together. We enjoy Mexican food so we had time and tried the food there. We were no disappointed. IT was ample portions at a modest price and nice people serving.

The food was alright. They don't serve coffee. And the place is very dimly lit.

Southern Mexican home cooking. A Northland gem. This place serves genuine food, not the cookie cutter stuff from your typical tex-mex place. The staff has been around forever, super low key atmosphere. The margaritas are a little too strong (maybe they just like my family, we're regulars), but the flavors of their dishes are savory and distinct, in the best of ways. If you need something specific, go here for the soup, then return for everything else.

Owner is very hands on from taking orders to bringing your food. Last 2 times I have been in I could not decide so he asked a few questions and said i got you. Both times it was delicious. This will be my stop anytime I am in town and close.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but Ixtapa Fine Dining Mexican Cuisine gave us an experience so unforgettable, I felt compelled to share.
What started as a casual night out became a culinary adventure unlike anything I’ve ever had. When we’re given the option by the owner to be surprised , we were treated to a full tasting journey — a thoughtful flow of flavors that touched on Aztec and Mayan roots, Mexican tradition, and even subtle influences from Greek and Middle Eastern cuisine. Each course came with a story and a spirit pairing, weaving history and flavor into something truly special.
The dessert was unreal — rich, complex, and deeply satisfying. And the best part? For two drinks each, multiple tasting plates, a full entrée platter, and dessert, our bill was just $110. This could have easily been a $300+ tasting menu in a major city — but here it was, tucked inside a humble spot that radiates warmth and brilliance.
This restaurant is a rare gem. If you’re lucky enough to go, ask for the surprise experience. Trust me. Let the story unfold.

This place is terrific. While the menu has several items to choose from, they also let you create your own. I would call it authentic Guatemalan food. Living in the South End of town, and this place up in Zona rosa, I don't get to visit this restaurant very often. Id be a regular otherwise. The chips are good and fresh, the salsa they have comes in a couple of different flavors, also very good.... Ive had several different things to eat there and everything has been excellent. They also serve adult beverages, and you never feel rushed. This place has definite local following.Parking is a little bit of a challenge. If you're looking for something a little different, give this place a try You'll be glad you did.

Wow, this place is incredible ! Service was top-notch! The owner is very passionate about food and introduced us to his concept - fresh, authentic cuisine that isn’t greasy or slathered in cheese. Don’t get me wrong , I love that type of food too, but this was muchhhh better .
When the owner found out that it was our first visit, he insisted on providing us a meal called the Tour de Mexico. We are adventurous eaters so wholeheartedly agreed . All in all, it ended up being a 6 course small-plate meal, starting with appetizer dishes, a coupe of main dishes, and ending with dessert. Each course was a total surprise which made it a lot of fun ! And each course was more and more amazing.
Truly amazing service by the owner and his awesome team! We can’t wait to go back and continue ordering the Tour de Mexico to try more and more of Ixtapas delicious creations !
