Krokstrom Scandinavian Comfort Food

Hidden gem, truly worth checking out! The drinks are spectacular, the plates are unique with a beautiful presentation and full of flavor. I will definitely be taking friends from out of town to enjoy this restaurant!

I hardly know where to start with this place. We love it so much! Having a restaurant in Kansas City that offers the unique cuisine of Scandinavia is already such a treasure about which to boast, but add to that the delectable menu of tasteful items and the expansive and remarkable drinks selection, and you have one of the BEST restaurant's in the Midtown area of Kansas City! The decor is lovely and well-done, and ambiance is enjoyable, and the service is very good -- they make you feel like you are really a valued visitor. Last but by no means least -- how on earth does a restaurant manage to make every single interesting (and sometimes a little scary-sounding) combination of ingredients on their menu taste so ridiculously perfect together?! I admire that chef, and highly recommend Krokstrom. We love, LOVE this place! <3

Absolutely fantastic. This is one of a few "MUST" restaurants. Lots of street and lot parking available right next to restaurant. We were promptly greeted and seated and then quickly attended to by our waitress. Good variety of selections from the dinner menu and happy hour menu without being overwhelming. Remember that Thursday us "happy hour" all day and evening. We had the mussels and flank steak. Totally delicious and prepared just as ordered. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will certainly go back.

We had a wonderful and unrushed evening with siblings. Our waiter was personable and extremely knowledgeable of the menus. Cocktails were amazing and the Aquavit list was extensive. Already planning another trip to take advantage of the Mead and Aquavit flights offered (this time with Lyft or a DD). The all day happy hour on Thursdays is a great way to sample lots of different foods and encouraged sharing.

Egg coffee is something different to try. No bitterness in that coffee! Not a lot to choose from for vegans, but do-able. Nice atmosphere.

We went here for the first time today for brunch and everything was fantastic! The smorgasbord was a phenomenal assortment of pickled vegetables, fish, and cheese, and the entrees were superb. The Swedish princess dessert and cardamom latte were wonderful. Very lovely atmosphere and good service. This is one of the best meals we've had in a while - we would easily eat here again!

Great restaurant. Had lunch there and it was delicious. Authentic Scandinavian food and drinks. Not a complicated menu. Nice big bar, very friendly staff and a cool atmosphere. Would definitely recommend going for a fun lunch or brunch.

This place is amazing. The food is just amazing. I advise people to try the sampler platter. If you go in, ask for Alex. He was THE BEST server ever!!!

Raggmunk was fantastic! Good selection of Mead too!

The fried beets are sublime. Very lightly fried with a mild curry sauce.

Delicious Scandinavian Food. I had the Smí¶rgasbí¶rd due to my gluten and soy issues. While the crackers pictured did contain gluten, they inquired about my issues and brought out piping hot gluten free bread. The mustard sauce was hot and spicy, the paté flavorful and slightly tart. House red wine was a bold blend with fruity and chocolatey notes. All the meats, cheeses, and veggies paired well and were fresh.

Really delicious food! Popped in last night right before a show and service was excellent. This is the kind of food I will crave. The combination of the food flavors complimented each other so well. I'll be back!

We had a great experience here. It's a little pricey, but everything was worth the price. We shared a smorgasbord and I had the Flying Jacob, which I was skeptical of because of the bananas. I shouldn't have been. The chicken was amazing and the banana tempered by the other flavors. The drinks were to notch as well.

We frequent Krokstrom as often as we can. The chef is always adding delicious items to the menu! My favorite is the trout cakes. The we always get the cheese and pickled plate, or smorgasbord! Such wonderful pairings on there that change with the seasons! And I know nothing about any of the items on the board, but they do such a great job of placing things near other things that taste good together that I always put together tasty bites!

I think I may not be a huge fan of Scandinavian food, but I did enjoy my food! I wish the servings had been bigger as I was not completely satisfied after eating. I wish we had gotten an appetizer!
