Unsure of the new direction, but when Pam was in the kitchen food was BEYOND! Pam is phenomenally talented, and James Beard Recognized! Definitely try Muni, or Buck Tui for your cravings or to see them.
My husband and I went without a reservation and we were still able to be seated with our options being the bar or the patio so we opted for patio since it was nice outside. As always the food is delicious, staff is friendly and helpful, and it’s a bit pricey but we love coming here every other month.
So freaking delicious! It’s the type of place that you know is just too special to get something familiar. We were a little unsure what to order but with the help of some friends and the server, we were very pleased with what we got.
Decided to have lunch here at around 2pm on a Saturday. I got a table right away as there were not much people at that time. Their lunch menu was reasonably priced compared to the dinner one. Ordered the Kow Soi Nua - the beef was very tender which you can easily pull apart with chopsticks and the coconut curry was aromatic and slightly sweet.
The menu prices on the website were not the same as what I was charged at pickup. I wasn't given any indication that the curry dish had changed or the total until I came to the restaurant. The food was alright, but not at all worth above $70 for an appetizer and 2 entrees. We're a hard pass, after this experience. Edit: I called to report the discrepancy, and they comped an item to make up the price difference. The food is decent, but there are others in the area with the same quality and less expensive. We probably won't be back for that reason, as well as the fact that the hostess didn't make any effort to ask about the $ differences, after I brought them up.
We saw the owner on Beat Bobby Flay (She didn't win), so we gave Waldo Thai a try for lunch. Very limited lunch menu. I had crab fried rice. It wasn't particularly noteworthy.
Best thai in KC!
They've dumbed the menu down somewhat (no น้ำพริก) and jacked prices up. Still one of the more authentic Thai places in KC, just a disappointment to see the changes and no other Thai guests/employees in the restaurant.
Ordered a dish with runny egg and egg came out way over cooked and waitress said that's how it is served sometimes. PLEASE!
Authentic thai food! Great menu and food!

Although the food was delicious especially the pork belly and the laab, it was pretty expensive. The pad thai and the scallion cake was decent. The cocktail that I got with rum and coconut was alright but also pretty pricey. At least it was nicely decorated in the inside and gives off a modernized feeling. Overall, this restaurant is worth trying at least once despite the price.
I decided to get over myself and try Waldo Thai, the first time I was going to eat there their host talked me out of it because not only are there no substitutions there is no asking for a spicy plate of food to be cooked to order. I ordered the vegetables side and the beef Kee mow. I'm glad I ordered the vegetables, they were delicious, great flavor from the broth. The Beef Kee mow however was just ok, decent flavor but no spice at all. I really don't get the hype. They serve decent food. But I love spicy Thai food and this ain't it. I'm sure they get a lot of praise for making non-spicy dishes catering to American sensibilities but it's not for me. I'll sticky to spicy Thai food.
Dead flies in my lettuce wraps.
Ordered their lettuce wraps along with drunken noddles and chicken gapow.
Saw small black bugs in my lettuce and upon further inspection they were dead flies. I called the server and showed her, she brought some new lettuce but there was another one in there.
Could not eat the wraps anymore after that. Was very surprised no manager came out to address the issue and then they also charged me for the wraps too. I have been here many times but seems quality is going down and after my experience today I don't' think I'll go back anymore.
Kansas City is lucky to have such a great little eatery for people who prefer authentic Thai cuisine cooked to perfection
