First time here. Winning a radio contest brought us here. The food, service, and atmosphere is what will bring us back.
Our order was served with hardly any wait. My darling had the spinach feta salad with chicken and said it was the best salad she had ever had. I had a chicken bacon ranch sandwich with fries and the sandwich was delicious. We finished with the in-house-made peanut butter pie and let me tell you it was wonderful. And it wasn't a dinky sliver either, like most restaurants pawn off. You had better have left room for it if you order.
This place is advertised as a bar and grill but it has a semi-fancy restaurant atmosphere, with the service being second to none...I can't remember being better served or made more welcome at any other place I have been, be it restaurant, bar, or otherwise.
If you travel through Kirksville MO, or are local, if you haven't yet, you must stop in and see for yourself what I am talking about. Thank you Maxwell's staff for a wonderful finish to a glorious day with my sweetheart.

Been going to Maxwells for years but will not go back after tonight. The food is great and the staff has historically been great. However, tonight we ordered and my dish came out incorrectly (pulled pork rather than pork tenderloin). While frustrating, this initially wasn’t a dealbreaker. Mistakes happen especially in loud restaurants. However when our waitress came over there was:
1. No apology.
2. I was told the voice one would use to explain to a child that a pork sandwich and pork tenderloin are different. Note a few things: first I said “fried” when I ordered, there is no “pork sandwich” on the menu and another at our at our table got the tenderloin and I said “I’ll have the same thing as her” before stating my order. It was incredibly rude and off putting to say the least.
3. No discounts/compensation/coupons (we were not charged for the incorrect order).
4. The correct order took over 30min to arrive by which time everyone else was finished.
Another server came over and did apologize after and, I’m assuming after this server talked to the initial one, the first server came over and gave a lukewarm apology.
Honestly after having some of the friendliest servers at Maxwells it was shocking and I will be finding a new place to go for pork tenderloins in the future.

What a great spot to have a late lunch after the rains went through today. We were just on a road trip through and asked a local where to eat, he said Maxwells and he was not wrong. Had the special, po boy with chicken, Lynn had the ham and cheese sandwich, we both enjoy some pretzel appetizers, and it was all very good. Definitely recommend!

Spinach & artichoke dip was piping hot! The southwest chicken street tacos were tender and delicious. I tried a couple IPAs (Mind Haze IPA 6.7% and FML 8.5%). Both were fantastic. Kristoph = fantastic service! Give Maxwell’s a go when in Kirksville!

Maxwell's is a comfortable place. We were a large group but they took great care of us. The staff was very responsive and the food was delicious. Our group had a great time and I look forward to our next opportunity to visit.

The waiter was great and that would be the best part of the experience. I entered through the back. I have never been here before. Went to the front as directed by the sign. This was after 8 p.m., maybe getting close to 9. They close at 10. The guy up front asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. I don't normally like to sit at the bar so I said no. He reluctantly took me to a table. The food was ok. After I paid, I walked out the back door where a woman announces loudly that that woman is finally coming out the back and A man says thanks a lot toward me. Shortly after, the guy from up front comes walking out to leave along with the 2 that had made comments. Made me feel very uncomfortable. I didn't know I was putting anyone out by asking foComments. And still not sure of the situation. Not sure what the guy up front had to wait for since he wasn't my waiter. A little uncomfortable walking out in the dark to that. Will never go there again.
