Woah— this place beats Taco Buddha out of the park! Much, much better.
We live 2 miles from this place, so thought it would be a safe bet for takeout. Having never eaten here before, we didn’t know what to get, so we ordered a whole myriad of tacos.
Everything was YUM. The Hot Fried Chicken and O.G. Baja Fish were the best things we got. My Mom said the Regular Tacos were “okay but nothing special”, so we’d skip those next time.
Regardless, I’d totally get tacos from here again! It’s cheap too!
(Okay, not *cheap* but nowadays, a $5 taco is nothing to scoff at. The new Mexican STL in Crestwood is selling them for… gasp.. $20 for 3. That makes Session seem cheap!)

Food was adequate, however our service was extremely poor. This after discounting that service at establishments isn't what it used to be. Server came to table maybe 4 times including taking and delivering orders, we had to flag her down. 2+ hours for lunch. Disappointed.

Everything was really good and restaurant was very clean. I saw an employee check in the bathroom while we were there too. I will say the changing table felt like it was broken and unsafe.
I was happy to see the beef empanadas back on the menu, although they could have been filled with more beef. The initial greet time was little bit long considering the restaurant was empty as was the patio. The governors tacos and ranchero salad were really good.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and aesthetics. The food not so much. Chips and salsa was good, tacos were disgusting. Maybe I just didn’t order the right ones. I ordered one regular and one fried chicken one. Also ordered the corn fritters, they were okay. Oh and what was suppose to be elotes were absolutely disgusting more like corn soup. Service was extremely slow. Waited an hour and 10 minutes for two tacos, 40 minutes for out apps. Maybe a great local place but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again.

Food took over a hour to get and had to get it to go since my 2 kids were past their limit. Waiter never refilled our water or chips.

In town visiting family and found this restaurant. We were absolutely blown away by the food and atmosphere. Our waitress was just as kind as could be and very helpful with our decisions on what to get. My family will definitely make this a stop when we are back in town!!

Very unprofessional staff and working environment. Was baffled to see a recent 5 star review is a current manager at MTJ. You know the signs of a failing business when they have to write their own reviews. Just sad

Our first visit sat at the bar a few weeks ago and and had a great experience, the bartender was great and friendly. Margs were good, food delicious. We came back on 8/21 and maybe the bartender was having a bad night. He was curt and borderline rude and aggressively shook the marks like he was trying to get his anger out. Food was still good but the marg was a glass of ice finished in 3 sips. We felt like we were not wanted there and will not be back.
We went as a family group, excited for a nice Mexican meal, and instead got one of the strangest and least appetizing restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
First, the service. I asked for a knife to cut my quesadilla and was handed something just shy of a machete, with the explanation that they “don’t have any regular knives.” It was more fitting for clearing a jungle path than eating dinner.
The food was equally baffling. Two of us ordered the fajita bowls, which arrived with mushy black beans and mushrooms, but no rice—despite rice being a standard base for such a dish. The salsa was a watery, chunky mess with absolutely no flavor, and the guacamole was so salty it was nearly inedible.
Between the bizarre cutlery, missing ingredients, and poorly executed dishes, the whole experience felt surreal. This place isn’t just bad—it’s weirdly bad. Save yourself the trouble and eat anywhere else.

Want to imbue your G.I. tract with main character energy? Go for the street dog. Want it to get gnarly with Dhalsim yoga fire vibes? Add mango habanero salsa. I am not a religious person, but I know what it is to be baptized in fire. You’ll need some more quarters if you want to continue… 🔥🍑🚽🧻

The food since the rebrand is mid. That’s the best way to describe it. I know they went through a lawsuit and had to totally rebrand but the new menu is so boring compared to what it used to be. They axed so many of the best tacos (Yucatán pork and BLT taco). The fun and exciting street tacos just are whatever now. None of them really had a good kick. The service was great but feeling pretty meh on the food nowadays.
