Careful with the spice, but sooo good.
One of my favorite places to eat in Ballwin, St. Louis. Great atmosphere with the most amazing staff. Food is always served fresh and hot. Great flavor and most definitely value for your money.
First time here, and I had excellent service, fresh food, and a fantastic atmosphere. -3 years ago
I went back in 2025, and the same thing holds. The chicken has a great char and smoke flavor, the rice is light and flavorful, and the corn has a great mayo and seasoning combination.
The veggies medley appeared to have a similar flavor as that of frozen veggies and the only thing that was not a great flavor.
If you like spicy food, try their different levels of spice because they still have flavor and are not just spicy and hot.
Lastly, I love that they have activities and items (books and coloring items) for families and their children kids.
Great food, staff was wonderful! A great find.
Ok let me start off by saying if your getting the 1/4 chicken come with some gloves cuz man are they good
sauced up and just perfect love there food never been to the store always DoorDash and I’ve never been disappointed highly recommended
My wife and I were just heading into Fresh Thyme for groceries when we saw the pictures in The Port Of Peri Peri’s window and literally started salivating. Had this Indian food Brazilian vibe that caught our attention and we decided groceries could wait.
Best impulse decision we’ve made in a while.
I’m a huge sauce guy but can’t handle much spice - you know the type, loves flavor but my mouth is weak. I had no idea about Portuguese food but I learned quick it’s really good. These folks have this amazing spectrum of spice levels from “my kids can handle this” to “why am I sweating?” and they nailed the goldilocks spot for me. Not too mild, not trying to kill me, just right. They actually let you taste the different sauces before ordering which was really helpful because I would’ve definitely ordered wrong otherwise.
The chicken was incredible - perfectly grilled and juicy. But honestly? The sides stole the show. Started playing it safe with potato salad (which was really good) but then curiosity got the better of me and I started trying everything.
Those peri cassava fries are something else entirely - never had anything like them and now I’m questioning why every restaurant doesn’t have these. The falafel was crispy perfection, there’s this grilled paneer in some unique sauce that I can’t stop thinking about, and the falafel rice was cooked just right. The pita bread was perfect for scooping up all that good sauce because wasting any would be a crime.
The whole experience felt genuine - the owner and his spouse provided such great service, family owned place with people who actually care about the food and your experience. Not just going through the motions.
As a local guide, I’m calling this one of the best restaurants in town and an absolute must-try. My wife and I are already planning our next visit and this is definitely becoming a regular spot for us.
If you have a (spice tooth)and you’re driving by and see those pictures in the window like we did - just go in. Trust me on this one - Amosh & Courtney will take care of you.
So good we’re already planning to go back
I can’t believe I drove past this place so many times and had no idea what I was missing. I always thought “port” had something to do with wine, but turns out they don’t even serve wine!
This was an excellent place with halal, vegetarian-fed chicken. The owner’s wife was super sweet and helped us figure out what to order since we’d never had Portuguese food before. They let us taste different sauces which was nice because I like spicy and my husband doesn’t.
The chicken was perfectly cooked tender and honestly the sides were amazing. Those cassava fries were something I’d never tried before and now I want them all the time. Even the potato salad was really flavorful.
Everything tasted fresh and you could tell they care about the food. The people were genuinely nice, not fake restaurant nice.
My husband is already asking when we can go back, so that says it all. We’ll definitely be regulars here.
Worth trying if you want something different and really good
So good! Get the potato salad!
The Port of Peri Peri should be first on your list of dining establishments to try! The atmosphere is inviting, and they treated me like family! Their grilled (never boiled) chicken was to die for, and they catered the spice level to my choice, and even brought out some of the sauces to try before I made my selection. This restaurant's owners/managers are very passionate about giving back to their community and feeding those who are hungry. If you have a love for exquisite food and passionate people, you need to go and check them out pronto!
Always wanted to try, and glad we did. The chicken was perfectly made. Spicy and flavorful. The cassava fries were more like wedges, but they were fantastic. We did take out, but the dining area is very nice. Will definitely be back 👍

This place deserves a 11 out of 10 stars!! This is a Portuguese restaurant and it did NOT disapoint!! The food was amazing and like NONE other I’ve had. The the peri peri pepper the mild sauces are more like a medium spice. Everything had such good flavor. If you have trouble with spice you may want to order the Paneer strips with the peri mayo sauce over it. Eat a bit of th Paneer (cheese) with anything that may be too much of a kick 🌶️. If it isn’t too busy ask to talk with the owner Amosh Kumar!! It was such a pleasure to get to know him!! I feel like we are friends now!! This was an experience like none other!! We will go back!!! I hope all our friends in the area will try this place!!
Absolutely delicious food and friendly fast service. So flavorful! 5 stars 🌟
Went late night on Sunday after son's volleyball tournament in need of quality nourishment. The Port of Peri Peri was absolutely everything fresh healthy and delicious!! Service was tremendous also, as so many businesses post covid barely greet u or talk, the smile from the gentleman that took our order, and help finding a dish for myself that wasn't spicy (lemon pepper chicken amazing) would keep me coming back even if the food wasn't top notch as it is 💯 Get some couscous and the Cassava fries also!!
