Terrible service because they don't have enough employees and there is only 1 person working the entire floor for all the incoming call orders on the phone and the floor in the restaurant so this individual is overworked and I'm sure underpaid.
Restaurant is not clean like most restaurants in North Springfield. Just gross. Very old place and very run down however the food is good as long as it doesn't get us sick Lol.
I've eaten here before and never got sick so far.
Food was good again we had chili and chicken and dumpling soup.

This is a mom and pop restaurant located in the old Seven Gables building on west Chestnut st in Springfield. The old MC used to meet upstairs back in the day before the renovated and made it single level. The place is a little grungy and wait time is slow but good old place to grab a bite to eat. People give a bad rap sometimes but this is like a good old dive bar and worth checking out as the owners are cool and foods pretty good. Worth checking out more than once.

I had the cat fish dinner it was delicious I ordered two because it was buy one get one free very good deal for $17.00 my only complaint is the fish was salty but still awesome if you leave here hungry it’s your own fault big fillets of catfish big order of fries and okra I will be eating here again for sure very delicious

The food was disgusting and couldn’t even eat hardly any of it. I ordered a breakfast skillet and a monte Cristo. The only edible part on the skillet was the eggs. Everything else tasted as it was just chillin in grease. The meat on the monte tasted old.

Let me start by saying the food was pretty good aside from the ham which I believed wasn’t fully cooked, it was pink and slimy but u may be wrong because I’m not very educated, the service was also great the ladies were pretty nice, but the environment threw me off, not trying to be rude but it looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 60’s. But overall if you want something cheap with big portions the go here, but wear a mask or something because it smelled like a bathroom in there.

The place is dingy and dirty and if you'd like very old southern food, then it might be your place, but it looks like you could catch a disease. The food was OK. You could definitely make it at home at the same price probably cheaper. The waitress is nice though!

Ratings I saw were obviously old ratings. 4.3 would not be a recent review rating based on what we saw on 12-30-25 9am breakfast. Strange smell upon entering, dirty floors and table. Ordered eggs hash browns with biscuit and gravy, Shrimp and fries. Over $21 and neither of us finished half. While paying got a look at the kitchen, wished we hadn’t. This was a big disappointment.
