This place was absolutely fantastic! Smoke on the food was great and the sauce was phenomenal. Best baked beans I've had in a while.

This place is my all-time favorite BBQ place! I've been going here for more than 20 years, I've never had a bad meal here. If you want authentic BBQ made with love and attention to flavor, this is the place for you!

Walked up to an unassuming building with the smell of bbq inviting us to come inside. The staff were friendly and attentive, service was fast. We ordered ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket to share with baked beans and potato salad. The meat was perfectly cooked and flavorful. At the end of our meal, we had the pleasure of chatting with the owner who told us they’ve been open for 55 years. What a legacy and something to be proud of. They obviously know what they’re doing and have bbq down to perfection. Can’t wait to go back again!

My bf and I wanted some local bbq, walked in to a server sitting at the bar area on her phone. We grabbed menus, looked at the menu, then sat down. We were never once acknowledged or spoken to. The server never looked up from her phone, so we left.

I went in for lunch cause I heard some honest reviews. Amazing service from a lady but I later find out she was sick and coughing around our food and not washing her hands then touching everything. The place looked not very clean. I would come back but without being served by a worker with the flu or sick.

A historic land mark of Springfield that doesn’t disappoint to this day. Walking up to the door you are greeted by the smells of real KC BBQ, and as soon as you walk into the building you can just see the history. But not the history you hear about in Springfield. You see the history of the African American community in Springfield. As your mouth waters waiting for your food, you can read articles from across their 55 years in business on the walls. The food is divine, the owner is the nicest man you’ll ever meat, and this is the the American dream alive and well.

Normally their food is great. We ordered 2 large end spare ribs. They didn't have any cooked so we swapped to large end rubbed baby back. This time my husband and I both got burnt ribs to where all you could taste was charcoal.

This place is nasty dirty, how does health department overlook the blackened grease hanging from the ceiling? Food was barely warm and didn't taste smoked at all. Very expensive for the size and quality.

Absolutely the worst BBQ I have ever eaten in my life. The hot links were hotdogs cut very thin to hide the appearance they were hotdogs and not hot links. The ribs were ok, the brisket was super thin and had no flavor. The BBQ sauce tasted like bake beans sauce with a hint of heat. I had ants crawling on my arms and when we left I saw a small roach run across the floor. Someone mentioned atmosphere and I can tell you it sucked, go anyplace but here. I wouldn’t even give it a 1 star but had to choose something. Did i mention the BBQ sauce was terrible. However the wife did like her catfish but that was it. Out side looks nice and it smells good but once you walk in, it is very dirty. Water dripping from light fixtures and ceiling. Absolutely a terrible place to eat and mad I spent 50.00.

I gave this place two chances a few months apart. The first time I ate there I ordered a slab of ribs and they give me an inedible block of charcoal. I like burnt taste in my barbecue but this was absurd. I had gone through the drive-thru so I didn't find out until I was already home.

The second time is what convinced me to write a review. I got another rack of ribs, it wasn't burnt this time but was dry and tasted horrible. About an hour after eating it I got sick and threw up. I had the potato salad as a side and it tastes and looks exactly like what you buy in the container at Walmart.

This place is the worst barbecue that I have ever had. It is also the most expensive bbq place that I've been to in this town. For your health and your wallet go literally anywhere else.

The experience is like no other. This place holds so much history. The owner was amazing and greeted us himself. You can tell the moment you walk in how loved this restaurant is by the entire community. Great food! I highly recommend it. They smoke it in house. Just a heads up if you have a hard time with BBQ smoke. Otherwise, it is totaly worth it to dine in.
