Truly one of the best restaurants in Springfield. It's a great place to go if you want cheap and delicious barbecue. The way I do it is I order a brisket sandwich with a hot link on the side, which I cut up and add to the brisket sandwich. The atmosphere makes the place feel so much more authentic and the service is fantastic. If there's one problem I have with this place; it's the French fries, which are very clearly the crinkle cut fries you'd find at the freezer aisle. Other than that, everything's just perfect.

With an average of 4.6 stars (at the time of review), I had solid expectations for the place. I'm sad it was not even close.
Important stuff: This place is small; there are only a few tables and the bar top. Its an old, busy, biker/local bbq soor. There's lots of visual stimuli everywhere - if you're into that. All that's fun - super.
The selection of sides is solid, and the menu has decent variety. The fried okra was on point; hard stop, this eas the best bite of my meal. In a BBQ joint, that's a thing.
I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. What I got was a heap of pulled pork on a bun. The pork tasted like it came out of a crock pot - not smokey at all. And not really seasoned. So if slow cooker pork on a bun is your thing, this may be for you. It wasn't for me. Not even a pickle or onions? Just wet, unseasoned meat and bread.
So... I'd say pass. The 4.6 is likely from locals in their feels about a nostalgic place. Springfield has better BBQ, and it's not even close.

My band, The 3 Peace Band, played a FrIday night gig there. Here is what I found to be true. 1. The food at Pappy's is really good! I had a Brisket sandwich and the other band mates hand various items and we all agree. Ozark Bar B Que at its best. 2. The clientele were really there for the food and music as a social activity. It's almost like our band was made for this place. The staff said that many customers had said that they loved us. Just for the record we love them too. 3. Lastly, the owner went to highschool with our drummer Paul Rose, and had some good stories to tell about Paul. Lol all good of course. Pappy's has become one of our very places to play. It feels like home. A great thing for a local band to feel!

Great off the beaten path BBQ & Bar. Live music some nights. Burnt ends were awesome, Reuben was huge and the Cuban was tasty. Great service by Landon the owner. Overlook the neighborhood and get past the front door so you can smell goodness.

A little local gem! Smoke flavor is wonderful. Tried the BBQ spaghetti. It was tangy, sweet, and surprising delicious! Was told they have live music on Friday nights in the courtyard. Loved this place and will be back! 👍

Best kept secret in Springfield!! Went in on a whim and was very impressed. Laid back, genuine people having fun and serving amazing food. No Guiness is my only sad thing to say. I will definitely make this must stop next time I am in town.
