Hot. Chicken. Sandwich

After driving around and past Bluewood for years, a glowing recommendation delivered the final push needed to finally visit. An Oaty McOatface heavy beer provided enjoyment while waiting on food. Put down the fries first while waiting for the full chicken breast sandwich to cool down from a temperature approaching that of the sun and was still hot about 10 minutes later. It was an extremely pleasant surprise it was moist all the way through. Even the hottest spice level was definitely spicy, but not over the top.

I had a great time at the drag brunch/bingo. That's 3rd Sunday 1-3PM

Bluewood Brewing is one of the shining stars on Cherokee Street. I enjoy the rustic and comfortable atmosphere that they have created from an old stable house.

The bartenders are friendly and if you can't decide what beer to order, they're knowledgeable and will help you pick the right one for you.

Mac's Burgers has long been gone, but the kitchen is still putting out some damn good food. I enjoyed some plain chicken wings. I'm doing some low-carb eating, so I had them prepared with no sauce and even plain they were top-notch. The pieces were good sized and super crisp and juicy. I eat a lot of wings and I am always a happy eater when, my flats and drums are the same quantity. Just a quirk of mine.

Dieting does have some disadvantages. I normally order fries with my wings and I had to miss out this time. However, my mouth was drooling seeing servings of fries at tables around me. After I've droped a few pounds, I'll be back to enjoy some.

Bluewood Brewing is a quaint, historic bar at the corner of Cherokee and Lemp. Check the website for hours. Very easy to find in the Lemp Mansion's old stables.
We got there at 11:30a on a Sunday. Kitchen doesn't open till noon. We got our beverages, and they are a brewing company, so beer is available.
Familiar with the area, we walked around taking pictures and enjoyed the festive Christmas decorations still up. Then went up and ordered our choice of food at the bar.
My friend had chicken strips, which she said we're the best she's ever had. I had a very good hamburger which was just the right size for me. Think we both had very good meals, and she's going to bring friends down.
I recommend this bar restaurant to get a historic feel of St. Louis while getting to slow down a bit. They do have live music, but would need to call as to when. There is a two-sided fireplace for the main bar and the patio. Historical feel, worth the time.

Cool place!

Beer: Very good

Food: Excellent

Prices: High, honestly, but you almost have to expect that at a place like this.

We've been enjoying Bluewood for years and I've never gotten around to writing a review. Bluewood is, hands down, one of my favorite places in STL. The vibe/atmosphere is impeccable (especially when decorated for the Holidays), the beer, of course, is phenomenal (and such range, all the way from light, crisp, and tasty to the thickest, richest barrel aged stouts and barley wines I've ever had), and the food is always tasty. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and fun. Bluewood is great--check 'em out if you haven't.

⭐ 0/5 – Absolutely Unacceptable Experience

We made a reservation for a family event at Bluewood Brewing and what happened was shockingly unprofessional and hostile.

I personally reserved the space with their event coordinator, Lauren, and confirmed the reservation the day before. Despite this, when our party arrived, we were met with rudeness, abruptly kicked out of the barrel room, and told the kitchen was closed—with no warning, no explanation, and no attempt to accommodate us.

We had hungry children with us. Instead of offering any solution, the owner was unapologetic, dismissive, and completely unsympathetic. His response was to complain about how many hours he had worked that week and to state that “his job was not customer service.” At one point his behavior felt borderline threatening.

No apology.
No effort to fix the situation.
No concern for families or children.

Our family event was completely ruined due to their incompetence and hostility. An establishment that treats paying customers—especially families—this way has no business operating.

If you value basic respect, professionalism, or reliable reservations, do not frequent this place.

Amazing beer amd truly the best chicken I've ever had. You absolutely need to try this place out.

Was there for the Women’s Walk Pop Up event. Had amazing chicken strips and fries. Chicken was tender, the breading crispy even after it was tossed in sauce. Absolutely delicious.

Didn’t think this was my kind of place but I was wrong. The staff was superb and helpful. The drinks were great. Very much liked the hummus. I’m always on the hunt for good chicken tenders and these pass the test. Very good sauces.

You're never far from a brewery in STL, wether micro or macro. I'm close enough to walk here so perhaps visit more than the typical person.

Bluewood is located in the former stables for the Lemp Brewery. The beer is smart and maliciously crafted. The names are creative and linked to local things. I'm particularly loving the Lemp related imaging these days, it really makes everything feel very local and relates back well to the red brick momma. They have a few of the best beers available in the City.

The food situation here changes every few years. Currently it's the Bluewood lads themselves doing the grub. As brewpub food, it hits the mark just fine.

Don't sleep on this place.

If you're looking for good beer, especially hefeweizen, marzen, or barrel-aged beers, this is the place. All the beers I tasted were top notch.
