Charlie Gitto's On the Hill

Great service and food. The only thing I would suggest is a little more light on the table or chandeliers. It was almost impossible to read the menus and definitely impossible to read the wine list. We're not the only ones. When I told my daughter-in-law where we were going for dinner, she said, "Oh! The dark place!. But thanks to Quinn for recommending an excellent wine.

Gitto's on the Hill used to be a consistently wonderful experience. We hadn't been in awhile, and were really looking forward to a great meal. However, it was just so-so. The best part was the bread and dipping oil. Wines were good, entrees not so much. Disappointing, for the price.

We were celebrating my husband's birthday and Charlie Gitto's was the perfect choice! It's been years since we've eaten at CG; we live 4 hours away and we're in town for a Cardinal series. The food, service, drinks and ambiance was better than I remembered. Waiter even added a surprise treat with a birthday candle for desert! We'll be returning to CG's next STL trip:)

We had a great dining experience, service and food were both excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The food was soooo good! We had the arancini to start, probably the best we've had. I had the filet with herb butter, it was fantastic along with the gnocchi au gratin that was insanely good. My husband had the chicken parm with a side of spaghetti and loved it. We went with crème brûlée for dessert which was delicious but once we found out we could get an affogato, we couldn't pass it up, and that was a great choice! Overall highly recommend.

Second visit and just like the first, it did not disappoint. The pasta and seafood specials - lobster & shrimp spaghetti and scallop ravioli - were amazing. The service was excellent - Erika took great care of us and the manager came by twice to make sure everything was as we liked it. Tiramisu is to die for. So good, we know we will be back.

Most of the food was very good. Our waitperson was not very attentive; they seemed to be very focused on certain tables (higher paying customers?) and at least once left our table before we were finished ordering. My husband kept running out of tea. If we had had a better waitperson it would have been a much better experience.

You haven't really been to St. Louis if you haven't eaten at Charlie Gitto's! The drinks, wine, dinner, and dessert were excellent. Our waiter, Tim, had served us before and was outstanding again, as was the rest of the staff. Honestly, one of my favorite restaurants anywhere!

This was a great dining experience comparable to other great restaurants in Manhattan we have dined at. We will go back.

We were seated out, it was a good experience over all, food and service were on point and drinks were refreshing.

We were seated in the back by the bathroom and by a clear door leading outside which was very bright. Totally missed out on the feel of a dark white table cloth restaurant. Felt rushed as food arrived right after the appetizer and waiting staff didn't put effort in as we were only a party of two and didn't order alcohol. Overall would be a better experience if seated in the main part of the restaurant.

Came in specifically for the appetizer, Eggplant Napoleon. They removed it from the menu! You can call the day before to request it. Wish I knew. Oh well, next trip to St Louis, I'll know. Dinner was delicious and service was attentive. Will return.

Warm welcome at arrival . Drinks and food are served efficiently and with attention to detail, including refilling beverages. Staff was friendly and took orders promptly. Clean table between each meal. Overall it was great experience.

Charlie Gitto's ‘On the Hill' was an amazing dining experience from the moment we walked into the restaurant. Located in a beautiful neighborhood in St Louis, it's outside ambience is just as charming as the food and staff inside. Ask about their specials and wine recommendations. Do not skip on the cherry gelato. It came as a recommendation and was phenomenal. Overall great experience. Tim, our waiter, was fantastic. Amazing food, wine, dessert......beautiful evening

Great food and service. We chose Charlie Gittos for our anniversary and was not disappointed. The staff there is friendly and always tries to accommodate any special requests. We will be back soon!
