Charlie Gitto's On the Hill

Our food was great, a couple of us got the sea bass and pasta with vodka sauce and prosciutto- both were great. We had great service as well. Would definitely recommend.

Food was fantastic, delicious and fresh. Scott our server was great and on top of everything. Definitely coming back!!!

Food and service were excellent, but the dining area had an unpleasant musty smell. This has never occurred on our previous visits to Charlie Gitto's on the Hill. Perhaps it was due to the remodeling under way.

We had high expectations based on the reviews. Despite having made a reservation, we were seated with a view into the kitchen despite the restaurant being mostly empty when we arrived. After ordering cocktails, we ordered the melon and prosciutto appetizer, which was a special that evening. It was delicious. Our waitress, kept “checking in”, so we felt pressured to order. We shared a salad. At this point, we had been at our table for 20 minutes. While eating our salad, our main courses were brought out. We were asked if we'd like them kept warm in the kitchen, so we said yes. We weren't close to being finished with the salad. After we finished, our main courses were delivered. Seafood risotto and the gnocchi. Both mediocre. The risotto was runny with minimal shellfish. The gnocchi was like a mashed potato piece, no snap. Both did have flavorful sauces. Overall, just an okay, but expensive meal. We knew we had a time limit of an hour and a half at our table. We were rushed and out in an hour. We took dessert to go because it was just an uncomfortable feeling.

Service and food were amazing, very friendly wait staff. Only gave 4 stars for ambience because of the noise level (may have large groups sit next to you)

A beautiful night dining on the patio with good friends. As Always, excellent food, great service, great wine. Veal Nunzio is my go to favorite. Special seafood pasta as well as a sea bass special were enjoyed by the rest of our group. Never fails, my favorite spot on The Hill.

Our server, Todd, was so friendly and helpful. I always feel like we're greeted like family (which we are not). My favorite Italian anywhere!

My husband and I decided to visit St. Louis on a whim. We didn't do any research, we just drove. Thankfully, we found an 8pm reservation at Charlie Gitto's. It's so vibey. A romantic courtyard outside and inside a small, dimly lit, bustling restaurant. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood Italian spot. The servers move around that place constantly, and it nearly looks choreographed. Now, the food is really stellar. I make a lot of pasta at home, so I have a high standard. We started with the lobster bisque and the calamari. The lobster bisque was creamy and delicious! The calamari was a large portion and cooked perfectly. For our entrees, my husband had the spaghetti and meatballs, and I went with the lasagna. We both couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the large portions, but were even more in shock with how good it was. We had to take the leftovers home and thankfully, just as good the next day. Not sure if we would visit St. Louis again, but if we do, we will certainly dine here again!

The food and ambience were great. I would have liked the entree to include a veggie and or potato instead of ordering everything ala carte. I'm glad I went there but it is a special occasion or one time only place.

We had the best booth in the house, food was and always is fantastic, our server Tim, one of the best in the house, just a wonderful experience, best restaurant in St. Louis.

Recently celebrated a couple birthdays at Charlie Gittos with dinner on the patio. The staff were really great, food was amazing and while there were others around - it felt very private and we really enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely return to try some of the other options on their menu as it all looked so good...

First rate experience from the bar service ( Abigail) and the dining room. Couldn't be happier with our waiter Efem and assistant. Always there to ensure our experience was first rate. I spilled a drop of red sauce onto my sweater and before I could wipe it, Adam ( the general manager said” don't wipe it! Let me get you something.” He did, and I was grateful for it. No stain! Loved the entire experience !

This may have been the best meal we've had in a long time...maybe ever! Our server, Wendy, was phenomenal. Can't wait to go back!!
