I was so delighted to find this place at the end of my STL work trip, just sad I hadn’t found it sooner! The employee was incredibly helpful answering my many questions. As someone dairy and gluten free with a sensitivity to sugar and seed oils, I had a hard time finding food in STL. Not here. Guys, they MAKE their cashew milk! My dream. I ordered the salad pictured, a matcha (a bit sweet, would ask for half sweet next time), a chocolate chip cookie and was gifted an oat bar. All divine. Will absolutely be back here for every meal on my next work trip. Thank you so much for offering food I can feel well eating.
Everything tasted super fresh from the mint in the mint latte to the fruit and avocado on the toasts. We both loved the espresso tonics and pastries as well. My husband and I were in town for three days and came for breakfast and coffee every day. Even on what felt like a busy weekend the coffee was super quick and the food was faster than expected. Everyone was super sweet and friendly and the space was so nice to hang out in.
I went once. The coffee was ok the pastry was pretty good by my goodness, it’s such a terrible atmosphere. You have assigned tables, you can only stay for 95 minutes and it seems like the place was just opened by a granola girl who wanted to play coffee shop owner! Shouldn’t coffee shops be a place where people can go to catch up with friends or work on stuff on your laptop? Not here!!! Also, before you think that the assigned seats and time is because it’s a small place? NOPE!! It’s pretty large, with at least 15 or so tables and outside seating! Definitely will not be coming back unless they change the stupid assigned tables and timed stays. Absolutely ridiculous!!
Fiddlehead Fern Café is an absolute gem tucked into the Botanical Heights neighborhood. The space is light, bright, and thoughtfully designed—like if your favorite Pinterest board came to life and started serving coffee, cocktails, and seasonal bites.
I grabbed a cozy table on the patio (yes, it’s dog-friendly!) and soaked in the sunshine, people-watching, and vibey string lights. Inside has plants and pastries everywhere you turn with a moderate noise level, even when they’re busy.
I had the beet tartine topped with egg and fresh greens—equal parts earthy, fresh, and satisfying. And the Cold Brew Martini? Baby, it was smooth, creamy, and served in a vintage glass that made me feel like I should’ve been in a 1940s jazz bar. Perfection.
Before I left, I grabbed a Lavender Lime Espresso Tonic to go, and WOW. Floral, citrusy, and just the right amount of bitter—it’s the kind of drink that makes you feel like you have your life together, even if you don’t.
Their drink menu is impressively curated so if you love craft coffee or tea lattes and cocktail artistry in equal measure, Fiddlehead Fern Café is a must. I’ll be back—probably with a book, a friend, or both.
Great for solo coffee work sessions, catching up with friends, or sipping a little something stronger in the afternoon.
Pro tip: Try the Cold Brew Martini. And thank me later.

One of my new absolute favorite coffee shops in St. Louis. Great menu and selection ot specialty roasts. The lavender latte was one of the best I've tried in St. Louis! Loved the low key modern minimalist vibe. Very relaxing to hang with friends or get some work done. Staff was very friendly. Great place to start your day or plan a cute coffee date!

Stop in twice a month for the ube moon goddess tea latte and pompeia salad. Amazing.
One of my favorite breakfast spots in STL. They truly have the best avocado toast there is. I love that there is a good amount of outdoor seating but if you go inside its a very cool, modern vibe. They have fresh pressed juices, as well as wellness shots that I recommend checking out.
