Small take-out only restaurant with fantastic food! We ordered 2 of the j*** chicken plates. My husband's sides were the spicy cabbage and Caribbean corn, and I ordered the mac and cheese and Caribbean corn. The chicken was really great - so flavorful and moist! It even came on a bed of red beans and rice. I wasn't expecting the extra side of red beans and rice - it was awesome and seasoned perfectly! The mac & cheese was probably the best I've ever had - so rich and creamy! The Caribbean corn was also out of this world!!! So buttery and loved all the Caribbean flavors infused into the sauce. The only thing we didn't like was the spicy cabbage. It was way too spicy for me to eat, and my husband didn't like the mushy texture. We also ordered the banana pudding cheesecake for dessert. It was really tasty as well - so light and fluffy and the icing on top really set it off. Can't wait to come back!

J*** Soul has been on my list of places to try. Decided to order them for lunch. The place is kind of hidden on Cherokee st but I could smell the food cooking as I walked to the door. Everything in the menu sounded so good, but I decided on the pasta. Let me tell you, the pasta was amazing! The spice from the j*** chicken gave it a good kick. Chicken was tender. Even the flat bread included in the meal was seasoned well. I will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu

The food was awesome, the j*** wings, mac and cheese, cabbage and rice on the bottom of the container was very tasty. From the time I ordered and the food was packaged up, it was fresh and hot. I wish they had seating but understand it is a carry out location. I hope they expand real soon.

I ordered from this restaurant for the first time and WOW!! Best Jamaican food I’ve ever had including in Jamaica. Had the j*** wings over rice with sides of spicy slaw and OMG sweet potatoes. All delicious! Order was filled quickly and staff was courteous. Definitely will be ordering again!

Do NOT let the appearance of the location fool you. This food is worth the price and drive. I try new food places frequently of different nationalities. Finding this place was random through google search, and now I see why this restaurant popped up first! Their entrees are $24 you get two sides and your main meat is over a bed of well seasoned moist rice and beans. I ordered oxtails with macaroni and cabbage. I’m VERY picky with macaroni! Just because it’s cheesy doesn’t mean it’s good. But the Mac was seasoned, creamy, and cheesy. The cabbage had hint of heat and a Smokey meat flavor… A+. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops with fried plantain and corn on the cob. The food didn’t make it out the car before we were licking our fingers. The lamb chops were perfectly seared and seasoned with several seasons like thyme or rosemary. The plantains weren’t too oily or mushy and the cob was broken into bite sized pieces. The only 2 complaints that I have is that there isn’t a location on the Illinois side and that the portions were proportional, but it was so good I wanted more ??. 10/10

It took me a lot to write this review. The food tasted nothing like Caribbean food. We got oxtail and j*** chicken. From the customer service to the taste of the food was horrible! The oxtail sauce was watery and had zero taste! The j*** chicken was dry and J*** sauce on the side instead of marinating the sauce with chicken. It’s the worst!

Today I went to J*** Soul, after I discovered them recently, and the food was delicious, and the lady at the counter had great customer service, after paying with my credit card I wanted to leave her a tip with my credit card, but she told me if I leave a tip on the card she won't get it, tht is horrible, I had no cash. To the owner how dare you, tht is money that she deserves and earned, she represents your business for you and the least you can do is give her the credit card tips, who do you think we are leaving the tip for, can you answer that, because it's not for you, just to be clear, it's for her. You sir are a horrible person to do this to your employee who gave me and others great service. I pray you change this so she can get what we want to give her, again she gives great customer service.

Take out service is typical for most places. We ordered 2 j*** chicken quarter meals. Both with spicy cabbage and sweet potatoes. Got sweet potatoes and corn. J*** chicken quarters were very tasty. Corn, bit too much curry for us. Wish we gotten the spicy cabbage as ordered. Sweet potatoes were deliciously sweet. Rice and bean were under the chicken quarters. It could have been a bit moist and juicy. Will we go back? Certainty! More deliciousness to try. Danelle was a joy to talk to. Service with a smile, but needs to insure correct orders get picked up.

Today was my very 1st visit here. I got the nachos and sweet plantains. Danielle was very pleasant and helpful. I need to channel my inner Jamaican roots because I was not ready for the heat! The nachos and plantains did not disappoint, they were delish!! Definitely will be back.
