Excellent Banh Mi...among other things!

This place is sooo good.. I just moved down the street and had it everyday this week. Great prices, great food and a lot of variety. I really liked the quail and pork chop entrees. Can’t wait to try other stuff like their seafood boils. Very friendly staff I think Priscilla (that’s what it said on my last ticket) is the girl that handles my to gos super nice!

This is my new favorite Vietnamese spot to go to! The food is very flavorful and the boba milk tea is honestly the best I’ve had in STL! Alison is the best server and so kind. Make sure to try their spring rolls and bún bò huê! It is all very delicious.

The atmosphere was inviting and well-curated, creating a comfortable dining experience from the moment I arrived. Service was equally impressive—the waiter was courteous, attentive, and ensured everything was handled promptly without feeling rushed.

The food was overall decent, with a few highlights and a couple of misses. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which came in a generous portion—perfectly satisfying for dinner. My son opted for the pho and found it enjoyable, which says a lot considering he’s a very picky eater; if it passes his test, it’s certainly doing something right.

The banh mi, however, didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I tried both the grilled pork and the house special, but neither stood out in flavor or texture compared to what I was hoping for.

To finish, I ordered a boba tea, which was pleasantly sweet at first—but unfortunately, the experience took a sharp turn when I discovered a strand of hair in the drink. It was an off-putting and disappointing end to an otherwise decent meal.

I’m giving this place a rating of 0, though I can't officially mark it as such. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing. I was excited to try this restaurant based on recommendations, but I ended up regretting the trip.

Upon arrival, we received our food but had to repeatedly ask for our drinks, which took forever to arrive. The waiter merely dropped off the food and rushed away. Additionally, the pho was misleading; the menu promised more than just beef rib tips, leaving us underwhelmed.

After finishing our meal, we struggled again to get the waiter’s attention for the check. When we finally did, she hurried off without clarifying if we were paying in cash or online, only to come back and ask again.

We definitely won’t be returning. Instead of “Joyful House,” it should just be called “House.” Please improve your service! I’ll attach photos for reference.

The food was quite good, as often can be the case with a restaurant attached to a grocery store. The service was decent. The ambience take or leave depending on one’s vibe but worth it for the fare. The noise level is variable, loud party in the next booth over can make hearing difficult due to the acoustics but all is fine when patrons are using regular voice volume.

Bahn Mi is the best I’ve had in the city. The pho is delicious. The bun bo hue is one of my top favorite items. Definitely recommend trying this place out.
