I’ve always been a fan of Mac’s Local Eats, and I’ll say right up front—the burgers are still solid, and the fries remain amazing. They haven’t lost their touch when it comes to delivering on the classics.
That said, I liked it better back in the Dogtown days. The new spot definitely has more seating (which was always a challenge before), and the staff is fine, but the atmosphere just isn’t the same. It’s hard to put a finger on—it feels a little more polished, almost corporate, even though I know it’s not. There’s just some of that original spark missing.
The bar could also step it up. Last time I was in, the cocktail selection was basically just canned options, which doesn’t really match the great food coming out of the kitchen.
Still, if you’re looking for one of the best burgers in town and some seriously addictive fries, Mac’s delivers. I just miss the character and vibe it had in the Dogtown location.

Mac’s is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates top-tier food and a welcoming atmosphere. No matter where you’ve been or what burgers you’ve tried, this place raises the bar. The milkshakes are phenomenal, the rip fries are a brilliant and delicious twist, and the entire menu delivers. The Captain is a standout cheeseburger, but you really can’t go wrong with any option.
The staff is friendly and attentive, and the environment is perfect for any occasion—whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal, planning a corporate event, or just catching the game. With both indoor and outdoor seating and TVs everywhere you look, you’ll never miss a moment. Mac’s has truly created an experience worth coming back for.

Seriously delicious. The Louie burger was so good. The aioli sauce was amazing. The fries were good, too. Love the atmosphere and the local goods they sell. Will definitely return.

Really good burgers and fries but everything is a la carte (fries are extra), and this is not a venue for anyone on a budget - we spent around $30 per person. Small sodas are also $4 per person and they charge 3.5% extra if you use a card.
One of the better burger venues in St Louis, but a wee bit pricey.

The folks complaining about prices must not understand how economics work. You can’t even get a combo meal at McDonald’s without spending $13–14—and that’s McDonald’s, the lowest tier fast food burger you can get. This place? Handcrafted, locally sourced, quality food. Sure, it’s a few extra dollars more, but it’s worth it! I got the Gooey Garlic Burger. Fantastic. 10/10 and will definitely be back for more!

An amazing night at Mac’s food was amazing like always! Yes it is a little more expensive than your normal buger place, but it’s absolutely worth it! Eat local is their motto and it shines through in their food! We have been many times and will continue to be back!

Okay. The food was not bad. It was an average burger and the fries were actually pretty good. But it doesn’t deserve anything above two for the food. Service was very quick and we liked the atmosphere. However, and here’s the downfall; they charge an outrageous amount for condiments. I got a tiny little cup of honey mustard, mayo, and extra fry seasoning. It was $8.09 for those three condiments. And for just the two burgers, fries, and onion rings, it was $50. In this economy that should never be the price for a tiny meal like that!

Fries were very good, burger was decent but not worth the price at all for a thin burger that wasn't anything special.
