Fantastic dining experience!!! We had a chance to try the new menu, and everything was excellent. The service was fantastic, drinks never ran out, and even the manager made the rounds to ensure every guest was taken care of and had everything they needed. Food came out timely, and cooked as ordered. The Chicken Curry was a refreshing dish, and a pleasant surprise. We also had the toasted raviolis and flat bread pizza for the table. We will be back.

It is a nice hotel with character. The toilet in our room is heated with a drier and the mirror is a TV. The hotel has no pool, though.

We went for Clayton Restaurant Week recently for a three-course meal, and found it to be underwhelming. The server (who I believe was working as manager) was nice and indeed was the highlight of the visit. Dinner took quite a while to come out. The salad was nothing special. The salmon was dry and overcooked, and my partner's blackened shrimp pasta (with three mid-sized shrimp) was undercooked. The chocolate cake for dessert looked like it came from a supermarket -- and not even Costco (which at least is moist!) For $39 per person + tax/tip, we could have gone elsewhere and left satisfied...

Ordered the chicken and waffles and they were eggo waffles

Don't have it on the menu if you can't make waffles. Very dissatisfied.

Worst meal I've had in a long time

Only one server/ bartender made the experience less than ideal. The poor guy tried his very best but an evening of long waits and mediocre food made me long for the days when Molly Darcy's was a fun, delicious experience. The interior design is attractive and welcoming but complete lack of attention and service made me wonder why the place is even open.

We went for the Mother's Day buffet brunch, and it was very disappointing. The buffet was very limited in selection options. Usually a buffet brunch includes a tray of eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle or pancake option. This buffet had none of that. If you wanted eggs or breakfast meat you had to go to the omelet station and get it in your omelet. The omelet station had two burners, so it was quite wait if you wanted eggs, but that was the only option. The people serving were very nice, but it was obvious they really hadn't waited tables before. Long waits for everything - ordering our drinks, getting the coffee, refills on coffee, and getting the bill. The courtyard seating was nice, it was pretty outside. My family all talked about our disappointed collectively during and afterwards. We didn't want to be too negative since it suppose to be a nice, fun outing for Mom. Again everyone working was nice, but Seven Gables is not equipped to provide a buffet service and it showed. I was embarrassed that I had picked this place for our Mother's Day outing.

They changed their brunch to a buffet. That would be fine if it was good food. Honestly the buffet at the Residence Inn or Holiday Inn Express are 100 times better. Food was under cooked and limited selection. Had to beg to refill our drinks (soda and iced tea). One of our guests was 90 years old. They put us in a corner the furthest away from the buffet.

Disappointing Experience with Poor Food Quality & Service

We visited this restaurant on a Friday at around 2 PM as a group of 4, and the experience was far from what we expected. Despite arriving to an empty venue, we waited nearly 30 minutes for our food. We ordered chicken sandwiches and a burger. Unfortunately, the chicken was overcooked and burnt, and the side salads—despite offering two dressing choices—arrived with identical dressings, as if the kitchen had simply decided to simplify their process rather than cater to our selections.

My $19 burger was equally disappointing, featuring what looked like a generic Costco bun, a patty of subpar quality, and a slice of the cheapest cheese available. After just one bite, it was clear that the food quality did not meet basic standards and that was not something any of us wanted to consume.

When we brought these issues to the attention of our server, he initially offered to speak with the manager. However, he later returned with the explanation that the manager was “too busy” at 2 PM—even though the restaurant was empty. This response felt dismissive and disrespectful.
We left after 1 bite to give business elsewhere and have a good food.

Overall, both the menu offerings and the quality of the food left much to be desired. I won’t be giving this restaurant a second chance.

Burned crappy food for the premium price. Empty restaurant, but took more than 30 minutes to bring the food. They mixed the order.

We hit them on a slow night right before a holiday weekend. Minimal staff that seemed to be in training, but our wait for food and drinks wasn’t too slow. Atmosphere was nice, though they were clearly in between holidays with totes of decorations stacked high in the corner booth. I’m sure it’s a pleasant place on a different night so I won’t that against them. Street parking is not a problem in the evening, but I know downtown Clayton has parking issues during the workday.

Out of bacon and English muffins at brunch. We were the only ones in the restaurant- Bloody Mary had no lemon/limes/olives any garnishment.

They were out of food. We asked for 2 items on the menu and were told they were out. no one else was there as well. it was like a ghost place.
