Best Bread I have ever had, and I have been chasing down good bread for 50 years. I have had six different breads, all great. But the trading pane and the sesame are my favorites. Splurge for the tempered butter, it is worth it. Fantastic salads and soups, too. And the smoked beets are to die for!! Worth it to go just for that.
My new favorite pizza place ❤️
The guy in the Detroit Lions hat is HILARIOUS!!! He should talk louder!

I've been to Union loafers about five times so far. Every single time I enjoyed the food. The fresh baked pretzels are some of the best I've ever had. I'll pop by just to grab one. I forget the soup I had the first time but I'm not normally a soup guy and I really loved it. I've had two different roast beef sandwiches on other occasions, and each time I have been thoroughly impressed. This is not just a good sandwich this is an impressive sandwich. You just can't beat the combination of amazing bread and homemade ingredients when they build these sandwiches. Should you go? I don't know but I'll be back there next Tuesday, on the Tuesday after that and the Tuesday after that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Took my 83-year-old mother into Union Loafers for a soup and sandwich, and what we found was so much more than a meal—it was an experience that lifted both of us. From the moment we walked in, the kindness was overflowing. The staff were amazing, and even the other customers joined in on the warmth, greeting my mom with genuine smiles and kind words. At 83, to have her treated with that kind of respect and joy—it touched my heart deeply.
The atmosphere inside Union Loafers is nothing short of inspiring. There’s an energy of positivity and community that you can feel in every corner, a reminder that food isn’t just about eating—it’s about sharing moments and making memories.
As for the food? The chicken and stars soup was simply perfect—comfort in a bowl, both nostalgic and elevated. Paired with a sandwich, it was everything we hoped for. And of course, we couldn’t resist taking home a loaf of their Italian bread, which later became the star of the best grilled cheese sandwiches. It’s the kind of bread that makes you slow down and savor life’s simple pleasures.
Union Loafers isn’t just a bakery or a restaurant—it’s a place where humanity shines through. It’s where kindness is just as important as the menu, and where an afternoon with my 83-year-old mother became a cherished memory. If you want great food, a warm vibe, and proof that the world is still filled with good people, you must stop in. Union Loafers is truly one of St. Louis’s treasures.

Provel pie came out perfect. Great dough/crust, cheese and toppings. Cynar cold brew cocktail was delicious too. Caesar salad is good but has a good amount of capers

Don't sleep on Union Loafers, and especially the Beet Ruben which is maybe my favorite vegetarian sandwich in the city. Great bread and cookies and pizza as well.
