Almost cried when I took a bite because it instantly reminded me of Korea🥲 Honestly, the cheese katsu is better than the one’s I’ve had there. Having 3 different side dishes per well and the effort of making every single item in the bento box so delicious reflects how much care and detail was put into making this. I normally never leave reviews, but this was so amazing. I will be back over and over again until the day I leave STL. Also, we got a little side dish on the house which was super tasty🥹

This place immediately became a takeout mainstay for me. I really ought to try more of their menu beyond just the pork katsu bento (I did try the menchi, which was also delicious), but I keep coming back to it. I feel like it's easy to make a fried pork cutlet like this too tough or too dry, but they do an excellent job: tender, moist, perfectly golden-fried. The sides that accompany it are also tasty and presented beautifully. If I had to pick one nit, it would only be that I wish the rice portion were just a touch larger, but otherwise the bento is a perfectly-sized meal. If you're looking for a takeout option that's a delicious and relatively balanced (it is still fried after all, but not at all greasy!) lunch or dinner for a reasonable price, look no further than Katsuya.
Just a note on parking for those unfamiliar with the Loop: street parking and the lot just across the street are paid during the day Monday through Friday (see signage). Parking nearby can be difficult to find on busy nights, you may just need to walk a few blocks. Weeknights are usually no issue.

This place is a must stop in the loop. One of the only places in the city where a chef cares about the customer and caters to your needs. It’s always refreshing to see someone take pride in what they do.

Very good ! Assortment of different kinds of food. You would probably be paying twice as much some where else. The quality of food is excellent…

I tried the chicken katsu, the bento box was huge with a variety of small bite to eat. The chicken was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The salad dressing was delicious. I ate almost everything but the seaweed salad. It wasn’t bad, just not something I’d normally eat. It was prepared quickly and hot and fresh. This was my first time trying. I will definitely be back, and telling my friends about this gem.

we love eating here!! the bento boxes are delicious, filling, affordable, and it's a real treat when we find chocolate desserts included. :)
Absolutely awful - Crab Rangoon fried in god knows what - oddest and unappealing taste. Everyone’s sushi mushy, with old ingredients. Supermarket sushi 10x better. Katsu meat patty not cooked through and obviously prefab/frozen. No one in my party could get their meal down beyond a few bites.
