El Saltillo | Mexican Cuisine is a family friendly atmosphere with sports on tv throughout. The service is the best, the drinks are really good, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. The tap beer is so cold and crisp, refreshing from the first sip. The chips are fresh and the salsa is even fresher. The queso cheese is the cheesiest, in the good sense. The staff are friendly, and portions are generous.
However, the food was good overall but the service really missed the mark. The fajita nachos and a taco salad had to be returned. The taco salad was brought out with chicken instead of beef, and then still had sour cream after no sour cream was requested. A few other items never came to the table and had to be removed from the bill. The salsa was watery and the tomato tasted over ripe. The steak burrito meal with rice had rice that was hard and stale, and the burrito was gamey with a cardboard aftertaste. The California burrito was the same. The tortilla was hard and tasted stale. The rice has been hard, dry, or no flavor in the last few months. The enchiladas were good but service was slow. The chips were cold and unseasoned. The complimentary bean soup bar was taken away.
